I'm 15 years old and an aspiring songwriter, I haven't posted a song for a while, because I felt I needed a little more practice since I kept posting songs which seemed similar and 'generic', so I had a go at widening my range. This song is totally not my style, but I decided to write it to gain a little experience in different genre's. I don't want to come across as a one trip pony, and so I wrote this, I hope you can see a little improvement. In my mind, it would be sung by someone similar to John Legend, but tell me what you think.

Change My Mind
I’m still kicking myself
I didn’t take it when I had the chance
It’s in the past, but it’s still in my mind
But there’s nothing I can do,
I can’t rewind time.

I keep making mistakes
Every minute, every hour of the day
I say sorry then I do it again
But there’s nothing I can do,
I’m not trying to offend.

But maybe I’m not in the wrong,
Maybe, I been thinking about this too long,
It’s my mind that’s creating a million and one problems
But I’m only human, I can’t take it no longer.

Instead of worrying like I’ve done before
It only takes just a simple change

I’m so very self conscious
It shouldn’t matter what the rest of the world thinks.
Cos there’s nothing I can do
I’m just who I am.

I’m not a preacher, I’m just a man
I ain’t perfect, I am who I am
I’m just sick of living it the hard way
When there’s something that could change it,
In a matter of days.

Very nice.... I don't think there are many who cannot relate to that.... We have a little in common.... Although I am almost fifty....Most everything I have written is when I was about your age or a little older... You have a great perspective... Keep it up... And check out A Fact of Life... Tell me if you know what it means.....

i was actually about to say the same as corsair, but also, you're explaining your situation better too, in detail, which helps us understand, you're getting better, a lot better, I'd like to see what you come up with next time cause you're improving fast, and I'm glad about that, because it means you've got the drive and the passion to be a good writer.
