Hiya

I am getting ready to post my first song for review

It is around a 3minute song recorded completely "in the box" in SONAR

I have mixed it and exported the audio as a stereo WAV

The size of the WAV is around 70MB - is this OK?

What do others upload - do you reduce the filesize (MP3) before uploading or does SOUNDCLOUD compress it?

Thanks

Boydie

I don't do anything? Whatever size the final mp3 is... that's what I upload. Don't know what soundcloud does to it. Although I do detect
a very slight loss of quality it is not a great amount. Should be fine :)

I upload 24 bit WAV files, the down side is if people want to down load your stuff they would probably be put off by the huge file size.
Bandcamp has sorted that problem out by letting the person decide what format they want to download. Which is the best solution anyone has come up with so far. So you can listen in cd quality and then decide to d/l it as an mp3.
