Missing You (What Are You Waiting For)

http://soundcloud.com/ykwya/missing-you-1

I am aware that my recording set-up is not the best. I just need some more funds.

An empty room I'm
All alone
What would you say if I could only call your phone
All these moments
Ticking by
What you waiting for?

We said its over
We said Goodbye
But all I do is think about another try
Why is it over?
Pick up the phone
What you waiting for?

Nothing compares to you
Im missing you
Nothing compares to you
Im missing you

A broken promise
Nobodys home
so much to think about; never want to let it go
A fading picture in a frame
What you waiting for?

An empty moment
Another dream
All the times you thought about what you'd be
Its never over
Or to late start
What you waiting for?

Nothing Compares to you
Im missing you
Nothing compares to you
Im missing you

And if theres chance you'll take me back
Take me back
I'll pray....
And if theres a reason for Love
To fall in Love
To take the pain away....

Is this your Dream World?
Is this your time?
Someday you gaonna have to read between between the lines
Its always out there
You cant deny
What you waiting for?

I never thought I'd
Be alone
I regret when I could have called your phone
Another Moment
Slipping by
Now your not there

And if theres a chance you'll take me back
Take me back
I'll pray.....
And if theres a reason for Love
To fall in Love
To take the pain away....

Nothing compares to you
Im missing you
Nothing compares
Im Missing you
Nothing compares
I miss you......

Think you forgot to put the link up mate :)

Hi,

I like this, shame it is so distorted though. I think I would have used some sort of ticking clock maybe, as a back part of the rhythm to give an atmosphere of isolation. Just a though.
Nice track  :) :)

Very nice atmosphere and lyric American

I think you could build on the sythns more, some nice pads would devlop the arrangement as you go along and it very ambitious at over 8 minutes so you could work on a radio edit

But I love this type of sythn music and I feel you are producing great music ;D

I agree with Kafla entirely - it's got great atmosphere and sounds but not enough development to sustain nearly 9 minutes. In fact, 9 minutes requires an awful lot of sustaining, I think it's just too long.  I realise the subject matter requires a plaintive vocal but just a bit more commitment would improve things - it's too tentative in my opinion.

Lyrically this has to be the most trodden path in popular music - but I don't think that means you shouldn't do it. However, I do think you have to be especially careful about phrases like 'Nothing compares to you' which is well known as a big hit (on a slow moody song with a lot of strings too) already .... I think 'No-one compares to you ' would at least distance it a bit from that. Same with 'I'm missing you' - maybe you could use something else there at least once or twice.
I think there's a great track in there though with a bit of re-working.

Youth & enthusiasm are no match for age and treachery.
