This is an instrumental I recorded a while back & I just found it this afternoon. I wrote it while living in Spain (near Sevilla) & I was making a documentary about flamenco. You can hear some of that influence in it. The idea behind it was to imagine you were in a hot seedy steamy bar in Columbia, a bit like a scene from a movie from the 40's or early 50's, black & white of course & there was a band playing this in the corner. All liquor & linen suits kind of thing. Get the picture?? all the instruments are real btw although some of the guys playing weren't at the time!! I like to think it has atmosphere,  but..........

What d'yer think ????

Hi Nooms,

such kind words & very uplifting for me too to know that it has helped pull you from "gloominess", not a nice place to be!! The thought of it breaking the door down & letting you out, so to speak, is more than just rewards for me, Consider the debt paid, lol.

There's a song in there for you somewhere!!

Cheers for now

If ever a sequel is written to Pulp Fiction this should be on the sound track.  Fabulous production, excellently moody!  Really like the "lazy" brass

Hiya :)

This is terrific.
Have never heard of Calexico but I might just look them up. I'm a sucker for double bass and brass and this had them both.

The brass was fabulous, so dreamy and laid back and lazy. Everything was just right including the guitar sounds.

Very accomplished stuff.

Like it very much and it put a smile on my face. Cheers :)

A very enjoyable tune.  I especially liked the guitars and welcomed the unique atmosphere that you have created in this instrumental.  It brings a greater degree of variety to the songs that are up for review on this forum.  Very well done!

Great raw untreated sounds and a balanced production.

Tight Playing. Restrained and balanced.

Digging the Calexico references other members have noted!

And I am a sucker for tremolo electric guitar

Nowt more to say expect mine's a Cuba Libre!!!?   ;)

Sorry guys for not answering your much appreciated comments sooner but I have been away in Hastings for a few days playing & recording a bit of guitar with a couple of mates. A must add that Hastings has a very healthy music scene, encouraging!!

Anyway, Cheff, Dutch. Djohnson, Schavuitje, Paul & James I thank you all for your kind words & I am so glad that it hit the spot in all of you. I am just in the middle of recording another interesting fusion of Tango, Flamenco & Arabic set into a Brasilian rumba kind of rhythm. All brain twisting stuff but I think it really is working, I am just waiting to put the trumpet on & that will be that.

Once again cheers boys  :) :) :)

its weird cause I hate this kind of music but this actually sounds cool, like it's even better if you lay down and just close your eyes, can imagine yourself in a beautiful place...
What if we both just smiled at once?

This is brilliant,

Great production and a clear mix.

I am a bit of a sucker for brass so I love that element of it.

I think you fully realised your intention of invoking a seedy, steamy Columbian bar room.

Very evocative.

Great stuff.

I liked this. It sounds as though it should have Kirsty McColl singing to it.
