First, please forgive me for being absent these past couple of weeks. I will get back to reviewing songs here sharpish. Here's a new track from me. It features my first attempt at playing a mandolin and a banjolele.

Ripe Old Age
Written and performed by Chris Price ©2024

I went to the Silver Serpent Bar, I’m gonna see me a rock n roll band
I look online to see who’s on and old Sid has a gig there planned
I remember that dude from a long time back, I dig all his songs n I like the crack
Still doin’ the rounds n singin’ real gruff, yeah he’s rollin’ out the tracks

Ooh..he must be a ripe old age
105 years old n he’s struttin’ the silver stage
But he’s Ai, he’s a hologram
the image of the younger man he used to be

I wander up to the counter and I get myself a cool beer
I paid the man and took me a sip but nothin’ seem quite right here
Met a girl called Little Annie n I thought we had somethin’ real
When I reached out for her hand, let me tell ya there was nothin’ that I could feel

Ooh..he must be a ripe old age
105 years old n he’s struttin’ the silver stage
But he’s Ai, he’s a hologram
the image of the younger man he used to be

Hey, @ChrisPrice

Love, Love, Love it. From the opening guitar right until the end. Great energy, melody, production and vocal.

The song kept my interest throughout and I like the fact you resisted the temptation to stick to 12 bar blues.

The mandolin and banjolele work really well too and keep the rhythm bouncing along nicely.

Thanks for posting this.

There's such a strong country influence mixed with your trademark Rock 'n' roll roots and cool guitar playing. The lyrics are excellent and of course current.  Everything that I have come to expect from you @ChrisPrice.

Hey @ChrisPrice - I had the pleasure of spending 10 days in Nashville a while back and this reminds me of some the quality music / bands I listened to there.

Very clean and pro treatment. I love the instrumentation. It's defo rock but the country influence works really well here.

Quality stuff. Superb really.

Well, that got my foot tapping! And great commentary on the times. I wouldn't have minded more development of the impact of AI theme...but maybe less is more! Nice one!

Hi @ChrisPrice

A lot of fun. Reminds me a little of some of Ronnie Lane's solo work. I think you've done a good job of containing quite a busy mix. Some good guitar work as always.

Great work and good lyrics.

I'm a big fan of Ronnie Lane (All things Faces and I love his later work), so I'll gladly take that comparison. Thanks for checking it out.

hi chris
your songs are often short and loaded
with fine imagery, no messing about, youre straight in going for the bulls eye
Great, you've got a very coherent, resonant voice and performed with apparent ease.
Always good to see you've posted something new.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

Wow! What a brilliant sound! :))
I like that there are a lot of background instruments in the arrangement! Fresh and original!
Great vocals, cool guitars. Great song! :))
