BROKEN AND BLESSED

(Elvis Nash , Brent Baxter)

5-19-2022

VERSE 1:

He doesn’t lose his temper

When getting ready gets me running behind

And he always seems to remember

Bad days call for chocolate and wine

Yeah, it’s not that he’s doing anything wrong

It just feels like it doesn’t feel right

CHORUS:

Somewhere between broken and blessed

No cracks in my heart, but no song in my chest

Yeah, is this really as good as it gets

Somewhere between broken and blessed

VERSE 2

Do I leave thinking I’ll do better

Just to wind up wishing I’d stayed

Or could I find forever

And butterflies that never fly away

Do I risk the lower lows for higher highs

Or just stay here, still playing it safe

CHORUS

BRIDGE

And part of me

Almost wishes that he

Would call it quits and just make it clear

That it’s time to go see

If there’s more meant for me

Than this thing we call love right here

CHORUS

Oh yes, that's the way we like it!
I don't consider myself a country fan but I'm a sucker for these kinds of songs (I think of them as some kind of cross over hybrid I guess)
Great performance and production and overall a solid song, a stable verse and a catchy chorus with a good hook.
Good use of dynamics in the arrangement.
Probably not the most unique or innovative lyrics there ever was but a great fit for the style.
Well done!

Hola chico!
After listening to the song, so well produced, with such good lyrics, voice, arrangement, everything, I wonder what I'm doing here? hahahha
Very good one, I love to see that things are working well for you.
I loved the lyrics @Elvis Nash

Things are not working for me Mora , Or this song would have been picked up and made money
I lost my house to be a professional songwriter , Nashville won't mention that in their field of dreams
I was just posting a few songs when I was hot and heavy on trying to sell songs
Lets look on the bright side , I ended up in a mobile home on a lake fishing for cat fish everyday
Ducks and Otters greet me everyday

thanks for listening

Suddenly I would like the earth to swallow me!!!
I'm sorry that life has hit you like this at that point along the way, obviously what I'm writing to you are just words that don't help at all, but I hope that you are fine where you are and that this situation serves you for something positive.

The only thing I know about you is that you are a great singer-songwriter and that many of your songs have awakened many emotions and thoughts, your gift can only be stolen from you by death.

Take care of yourself and discover new stars in the sky that looks at you.

Sorry to hear that things didn't go to plan with selling your songs - so far at least. I beats me why because everything I hear from you sounds as professional as it gets. All to often it's not what you know but who you know - and a great deal of good fortune. Loving this song and the singer did a great job here. Keep em comin'. I'm enjoying the ride. :)

I should have read the warnings signs that most pro songwriters disappeared when streaming started , At least a big % of them , No money to be made
I liked the hook so much I wrote it twice

Buddy of mine had a song picked up by a major publisher in Nashville a few days ago
Now will his song be on radio ? Hard to say , I guess it could

I take my hat off to anyone who’s trying to carve a career in the business. I still believe that if the music’s strong enough and there’s at least one real personality who looks right and can deliver the goods, then it stands a chance.

I’m long past the age where I’m looking for that elusive deal. There’s a lot to be said for doing this for the love of it and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier in my musical skin. I still gig with a band occasionally and I’m hopefully creating a collection of songs which will be still out there after I snuff it!! That’s good enough for me. :)

I’m long past the age where I’m looking for that elusive deal.. That's where I'm at
The buddy in question is always pissed off on pitching songs , I kinda laugh at him , Man I'm glad I'm done with that
You hear a 1000 no's and one yes , Its boring man
So your out 10,000 a year on demos , for what ? nothing
you make bad reality life decisions to pay for them , You're living in a fantasy world . You're living thru your song , if that makes sense . Yeah man then comes cold reality with its hand out , Pay us

Some artists sing their life , others sing stories for chart busters and money
Guy Clark, a award songwriter hated commercial songs. He died at home singing a song with a friend at his side  .
Being my age everything is somewhere south of a memory on better times, Hope raises in the morning light and dies at midnight
I'm trying to survive till I die of old age , Do I have a fish on this line ? nope another false alarm. It be cheaper eating the bait
Thanks
