Remember How We Were

You, lying in the sun
Staring at the sky and all the clouds that drift away
Fun, we had so much fun
Endless lazy days with nothing else to do but play

Looking back
Remember all the things I used to say to you

Remember how we were
Remember how we were

Endless days in the sun

Remember how we were
Remember how we were

It's a good project, I'll comment:
Since it's about remembering how... perhaps the song could start softer and increase its intensity little by little and the voice warms up as it experiences those memories, the instrumentation you've put in suits well but it could be something more intimate? Maybe the reverb? less...?

Ziggyyyyyyyy!!!  :)

You my friend, are getting better and better with each release.

If I may ask: How did you achieve that lovely 70s guitar sound starting at 0.47?
Also dig the string arrangements.

@Dorian  @moraamarolaloba  Ok, I have to admit it, the music was generated exclusively by AI (using Udio)! I added my own vocals, but I wanted to see what was possible with very little effort. I must admit, I was blown away by what it can produce.

Have others played around with this technology yet? Any thoughts / comments?

Thanks, Kevin

@kevysc  Okay you want thoughts. They are dark, for I genuinely feel sad about this. Human creativity replaced by big company machines. Yuk. Why replace that what makes us human? What’s next? My totally non-creative neighbour (with all respect for their other talents) telling me he’s musical because he knows how to push two buttons? Artists, song writers, mixing engineers and musicians being replaced, going out of work? The well earned money they used to make going to the big tech companies from now on? I’m afraid creative and musical minds will soon be recognised even less by the mojority. People will frown or laugh, because the machine can do it "better".

I know, they said the same thing with the rise of electronic music, but at least synths and such are used as a tool by creative minds, or the music that came from it was non-presumptuous. This is of a whole different level. This is replacing musicians, turning us all into consumers. Same with AI generated art.

Doesn’t mean i did not enjoy the result that the machine created for you. If you think of it, it's an epic piece of technology. But it comes with a prize. As a contrast, I do applaud AI for diagnosis of patients, or to predict economic outcomes and such.

Please dear Kevin, don’t sell your soul to this dark path. We have cookies as well  8)
Hm, shouldn't the forum block AI created content? I'm sure this will become a problem pretty soon. If we can stop it at all...

@Dorian Although i share some of your concerns, I am perhaps more optimistic about how this will turn out :) At any rate, I will hold off making further comments until hear from some others on the forum.

Cheers, Kevin

Just to be clear: my response was in no way intended to make you feel sorry, awkward or sad or anything. You truly make awesome music and your reponses are always nice and gentle. You asked an opinion on the technology itself and these are my thoughts.

Greetings, Dorian

@Dorian   :) No problem, I did not take offence at all and indeed really appreciate you taking the time to give your views, both on the music and more broadly on the technology. I would love to hear from others both on the specific music I posted as well as the more general topic of the use of AI in music creation. (As I said, I have some views of my own, but I am very curious to hear from others.)

Best wishes, Kevin

Sometimes I don't want to remember.  The vocal and mix on this are balanced and clean - it's rough just like some memories.

I came across this video on AI generated music, at another forum for musicians.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEQ9Vg2YKcU&t=78s

Especially from minute 18.30 on he paints a pretty ink black picture on the distastrous results AI will have on the music industry, on artists, on musicians, on producers, on mixing engineers and on human creativity.

AI has arrived big time it seems. There's been some interesting debate on this subject on another forum that I frequent. I have mixed feelings about it. I'm all for using AI tools - I've already dabbled on a couple of my recent songs. But I feel uncomfortable about music actually being generated and performed by AI. But it's happening so I'd better get used to it. My comments about this song are not based on any prejudice that I may have. Before I realised that the music was created using AI, I thought the song was an interesting departure from your usual material and potentially very good. I did however feel that the backing was a bit of a strange mish mash and now I know why. But AI is only going to get better so who knows where we're headed? I'm not going to take this route, but full marks to anyone who's prepared to give it a try. An interesting project. :)

Hi @kevysc

a great concept & the results are excellent
so many influences of 70s 80s songs i can hear
AI is here to stay ..   back in the day if you wanted to record
it would cost a fortune in a studio then came DAWS & everyone could try recording
studios were complaining but some amazing songs came from these humble home studios
like they say there is nothing more permanent than change !
interested to hear what you will do next ?

Yes
Dynamic.
Like the image it reminds me of Bowie in his sentimental moments
And dramatic like in a stage musical.
The drums could more more upfront.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

La verdad es que no, I don't dare... first 'cause of my eyes, then I feel something strange, as if I could be lost in a so easy way... My perception is that easy way is like a road to perdition.. hahaha Sorry, but my superstitions are riding my head. today!!!

@kevysc  . . . Yikes, your voice here is surely reincarnated Bowie . . . I'm sure you've heard that more than a few times.
It's a great pop piece to listen to, and I really found your vocal so strong. Much appreciation there.
Why do those harmony electric guitars always date it to the 70's ? . . . and the piano chord progression may be retro as well . . . because that's when we first heard those sounds I think. Bottom line for me is it's a great listen, congratulations ! . . . as far as the AI debate . . . I've personally found the robots very useful for mixing, sampled guitars, realistic drums . . . the things that my old ears and fingers find much harder to do as time goes by . . . oh, and the entire 10 piece drum kit fits in a tiny tiny box in my condo, and drinks none of my beer.
