Solid State Logic (SSL) is an English company that make those huge mixing desks (consoles) that you see behind all these producers telling us all what to do, and how great the latest plugin they endorse is...

However, they can be unreliable, hot, need a lot of space and power, expensive to buy and maintain, and for us meagre home producers not appropriate...but they sound fantastic...

SSL have recently released a FREE version of the framework of the SSL console which works with many DAW's...the only catch is you do need some SSL software plugins or approved emulations to fill the gaps in the framework, like the SSL bus compressor...it takes a bit to get your head round but if you use SSL channel strips now, it's really a fantastic breakthrough, and looks and functions really well... it's basically an alterantive mixing desk screen instead of the one in you DAW, thats, all...

If you don't use SSL channel strips, then forget it. You'll find some videos about it online.

Hope this helps
