Another genre jumping experiment from me. Mainly synth based with a bit of guitar thrown in there for good measure. Playing about with some 808 sounds to enhance the soundscape too. Hope you enjoy the listen  :)

Mister Unpredictable

V1
He swings left, he veers right
He hold all the cards but never gets it right
He's so straight, but just wait
Till the scandal gets hold of him overnight

V2
He's made plans, just for you
Now you'll see, just what he can do
But it's all, just a game
That he plays with your brain

Ch
Do you want try ? Mr Un-predicatable ?
Are you going to buy, high up in the sky
Mister Un-Pre-dicatable

V3
He's got power, he's got fame
But he's got no-one to blame
And it's all in his hands
Cos it's just a big game

Ch
Do you want try ? Mr Un-predicatable ?
Are you going to buy, high up in the sky
Mister Un-Pre-dicatable

Rpt V1

Genre jumping is just great for me.  I hear your signature style but I hear blues strongly and some unusual intervals on the last line of each chorus. I love hearing surprising melody.   Vocal is amazing.

My last listen of the evening and a great way to wrap the session up.

Cheers - John.

Ooh this fun
Strange sounds in there.
Lots of guts in the vocals

Guitar is nice, too.

Was the vocal in one take?
Sounds like you had some fun  😉
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

And there you have it.

Such a groove, I was moving my head to the beat the entire time, specially between the verses.

@rightly Thanks ! Yep, just messing really. 95% of my vocal takes are first takes, as long as I warm up properly !

@Theresa Thank you so much. I’m glad that you got into the groove as that was what this song was all about 😀

John @pompeyJazz,  your development as a producer, songwriter and vocalist  is off the scale.  I can't help but admire your passion, skill and creative output.  This sounds ace!

Brilliant!

Ah OK
Very good.

I've been experiencing self doubt with my vocals of late.
I used to be all gung ho
That last song, the wonder...
Is an old one but new production
I felt like I was covering myself.
Same as the one I'm almost done with now.
Doubt can be useful for me, I struggling with it.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Nice one, @pompeyjazz John.

Spreading your wings in terms of production techniques is always rewarding, especially when you pull it off like you have done here.

There's a timing thing with the bass that doesn't sit right with me. It's not wrong as such, just a double note which sticks out.

I like it when you go for the vocals. Your voice breaks into a great 'rasp' just at the right time.

Keep on keeping on. I think you've inspired me to be a bit more adventurous myself :)

Fearless as always John! Genre jumping is not something I'm too good at but you do it with the style here. The vocal is very you but the backing has a current feel to it. I enjoyed this one. :)

The vocal at 3:37 sounds strange - 2 vocal clips not fitting well together? With that nit-pick out of the way, another great track; loving the bass, especially the rumbly bit, and lots of other interesting things going on. Nice one.

Not exactly my cup of tea but nicely done, still  ;)
What doesn't work for me are the aggressive vocals in the verses but otherwise...
