I'm back from exile to ask a question...

A private link (in a later post) I'm afraid as this song is for a close friend that is turning 50 shortly and they're aware of my SC account and I wouldn't want them to get advance warning of this monstrosity  :P. The lyrics are far from great/honed I freely concede and my main question is: do you think someone approaching 50 might find it offensive - outside of the general poor quality of the song ;D? I need to go back and re-sing one or two spots  ;)

All best

CCB

When you were 5
A day was a dream
Sugar and Sundays
And custard creams

D’you think time did it’s work
Did it steal your youth?
Here is the answer
Here is the truth

You think the night is coming
It’s just around the bend
The way your thinking
Is not the way it ends

You’re hot and sexy
You’re the best thing alive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5
You’re not loosing a lifetime
You’re leading the drive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5

10 x 5
10 x 5

Come the morning
Come the sun
Come the daylight
For everyone
Come the evening
Come the moon
Come the party
Dance to the tune

You’re hot and sexy
You’re the best thing alive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5
You’re growing in wisdom
You’re leading the drive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5

10 x 5
10 x 5

When you were 25
Your mistakes weren’t seen
The clock shows a soul
Where it has been

So you may think that you were fighting against the tide
But really you were floating in the ocean wide

So tell me you fear the final call
And I’ll show you the point of it all

You’re hot and sexy
You’re the best thing alive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5
You’re growing in wisdom
You’re leading the drive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5

You’re hot and sexy
You’re the best thing alive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5
You’re growing in wisdom
You’re leading the drive
Remember 50 is just 10 x 5

@CorkingCrackBand  . . . as for your question, well, the decade endings are overly sensitive to many, but there's nothing in your lyric that sounds "offensive", sounds like it's all in good fun, roll the dice and hope for the best response. Of course, now I'm curious to hear it, dang, should have clicked on it earlier, when I saw it appear on SC :)

Clever concept and a bit of a new take on you're only as old as you feel etc. etc. Song has disappeared though!

Love this @CorkingCrackBand Its very apt as I can just imagine Brian Connolly and the boys knocking this out 50 years ago. It’s got a great glam rock feel to it, no holds barred. Vocals sound really, really good. You’ve really let rip. Good on yer !! Hope your friend likes it, I certainly do 😀

I absolutely love this!! Personal note--when I turned 50 I got VERY depressed and felt like my life was basically over and I really shouldn't consider planting any trees or making plans, etc, etc. I got over it eventually and now I am always pushing the idea that old people can do whatever they want; it's never too late to try something new and so forth.

So, to answer your question, I think the song is a very good idea. And, like it implies--50 isn't really all that old. And the energy of this song supports the idea of a vigorous life at age 50. And beyond.

I'm looking forward yo hearing it.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Hi @adamfarr and @rightly - I have dropped the link to the song in my second post and will repeat it here if you should be up to a listen:  https://on.soundcloud.com/B2fQw  :)

Thanks @pompeyjazz - I'm pleased you liked it.

Thanks @Elvis Nash and @shadowfax for taking the time to listen and comment. I'm grateful for your time and listening. In terms of 'snowflake-ness' it's more that my friend has a deep lying fear of aging and I wanted to tread carefully around what is often perceived as one of the biggest tipping points in aging as you suggest @CaliaMoko in your thoughtful and generous response. That said I appreciate the positivity in the thread that I've struck the balance well enough. I'll find out in a few days.  ;D Thanks for the kind words, all of you - they mean a lot.

All the best,

CCB

Hi @popitup - sorry bud, I missed your comment in my reply. Thank you for your thoughtful response. The song is available in my previous post. Alternatively I'll probably open it up on my SC account in a week or so when the 'big day' has passed - I know we keep tabs on each others work (and I really appreciate it and enjoy it thoroughly for my part).  :)

All best,

CCB

I listened
Great stuff. Very sweet. Lovely birthday gift.
If it offends, well, Never mind.
Whatever age,
when people get caught up with the numbers game.
They're really missing life.

My older brother told me, when I was 19
There wasn't much left to look forward to. Lol.
Now it's funny, then it was confusing.
Well, now over 30 years later,
I've rarely felt as good,
I'm wrapped in anticipation of the work and adventure ahead of me.

Very tight  ear candy guitar.
Smooth pop.
And a nice observation with that age/number concept.
Nice one.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Hi @rightly

I'm glad you liked liked it. I agree it's in the 'harmless pop music' category which I sometimes court and sometimes shun... actually that's not true: I never intentionally do either, I just write what comes to me.
Thanks for the story about your brother. I think we learn and grow more with each passing *insert arbitrary time measurement here* but consequently also loose something of our former selves - such is life. Change is the name of the game.  :) Easy said, sometimes more difficult to come to terms with depending on the nature of the change.
It's odd how the further away I get from any song I've written, the less happy with it I am. I was quite happy a few days ago with this but now it feels very 'filler'. ;D Never happy.  :o

All best,

CCB
