Hi all, just wanting to pick your brains.

Do any of you have any suggestions on the best way of creating an album cover? I'm no artists so it's always a struggle. I have dabbled with AI before which has produced some amazing results, but it does feel like cheating.

@Nick Ryder - In the absence of stunning artwork, I, depending on the genre, like mis-shot photos on my phone, or curious things I've shot in my Favourites folder, maybe processed a bit, like me under the 1960's salon hairdryer...

Pick a photo and make it fit the closest existing lyric from one of the album tracks...it's pop out that way to the listener.

I draw my own stuff, but I if I couldn't and didn't have the resources to hire a visual artist, I would go for photos or I would stick to designing something simple with geometric shapes, like the covers of "Black Album" and "Gruppa Krovi" both by Viktor Tsoi, which can become iconic in itself.

AI and cheating ? Naw . . Its what's playing really I think inside .

I am with @Elvis Nash here - AI is not cheating, it is just another tool in the arsenal for you to use

Ultimately, you would still be using your own discretion about you want in the final creation

I (potentially controversially) would also see no problem using AI to create melodies, lyrics, arrangements, mixes - if it is used to support the writer's vision - e.g. if is no different from collaborating with a lyricist, graphic designer, producer etc.

I do accept the argument that it has the potential to put people out of work (or change their work) - but I think the horse has bolted on this and it is coming anyway

However, "success" will still be controlled by how you generate the AI content (I.e. how good your prompt skills are) and how you select and ultimately use the content

Whether we like it or not, AI is coming and will revolutionise a load of industries in the coming years (including music writing and production) - and I guess the same discussions were had when computers, sequencers, DAWs and samplers first hit the scene!
