I'll be there tomorrow John
@pompeyjazz to discuss the 'Back To Basics' Challenge. That is Drums, and 3 other instruments plus lead vocal and backing vocals. Modern synthesisers are not permitted. However you can use keys to play a more traditional instrument: flute, trumpet, piano, harmonica etc. We could discuss a list of permissable instruments. I suggest we use no more than 6 tracks, inclusive of vocals.
Example:
Drums
Bass
Guitar
Piano
Vocal
Backing vocal.
(1 track permitted for each of the above).
Substitute a traditional instrument of your choice for any of the above.
Titles:
The Man That You See
Visit The USA
I'll Take It From Here
Intuitive Technology
Maybe Not Today
There Are No Rules
Perhaps We Should Say
The Things We should Have Done
Introspective
The Last 50 Years
Living In Two Places
Her Alibi
Structure:
Intro

1) Your song should consist of:
Intro: use as many or only a few of your chosen instruments.
2) Verse 1: 2 instruments including drums if you wish
3) Chorus: 3 instruments including drums if you wish and
1 Backing vocal
4) Verse 2: 2 instruments and drums if you wish
5) Chorus: 3 instruments including drums if you wish and
2 Backing vocals
Solo (Drums, bass and a single instrument)
6) Middle 8: Drums, bass and a single instrument and main vocal
7) Finish with double chorus using as many of the 6
instruments as you wish
Finally, outro as above number 7
It will challenge us all to write to a brief and to maintain interest with a limited selection of instruments.
Hopefully we can discuss the above for the next challenge. No time limit like the key challenge. Entries are still invited for this. The idea is to maintain forum interest so feel free to post entries for any of the challenges, at any time as long as you declared an interest/took part in the draw.
Something to discuss tomorrow hopefully.
