A different approach to this latest number with a more electronic drum patterns nd a few synths thrown in here and there for good measure. I suppose it's a lament for the end of the summer

V1
The sun is weaker and the summer's at an end
The storm is coming and I hear the rain again
Washing memories away

Over there – There's a blinding flash of light
Illuminates the city on this dark and stormy night
The hopes and dreams of many out of sight

Even though the summer's gone
Life it has to carry on
Nothing lasts forever I know that much is true

V2
And now I'm staring at the ships upon the sea
A far off destination to discover destiny
Oh – They've been sailing oh so far

Distant horizon far and wide
Making it through to the other side
To find their hopes and wishes – A hope that they find them

I hope and pray that you're doing alright
Even though you're out of sight
My dreams are floating on the tide

This has a really nice vibe, @pompeyjazz and it kind of brings to mind Nothing Compares To You for some reason. How hard was it to resist putting some big guitars on there? :)

My only comment would be that after the last verse, you sing 'Summers gone, it wasn't here for long', which to me is a really nice hook. I'd have liked to have heard that after the second verse rather that the extended instrumental section.

Just my humble opinion, John :)

Top work as always.

Hi @pompeyjazz

Really lovely lyrics - possibly my favourite from you thus far. A lovely full sound that have a great warm feel to it and a somewhat melancholy twang that serves the lyric perfectly. Your voice is very passionate and emotive in a nicely understated way.

Great work,

CCB

@Nick Ryder @CorkingCrackBand Thanks so much for your listens and feedback. I’d never get anywhere close to the emotion that Sinead put into her songs but I reckon that if you’re singing you have to feckin go for it😊

I love this, John!! One of my favorites. I might want to learn it myself. It's my kind of music. Sounds kind of 60-ish. It might be my favorite of all your songs. Not that I can make that determination because I know I haven't heard all your songs.
