Don't Drown In Blue

(1/2) > >>

Wicked Deeds:
I stopped writing several months ago, though I often think about trying to write again.  I was never going to produce something elaborate with this sketch; perhaps just a reminder to myself that I once wrote and produced music every week.  Last year, I finished an album called 'Without A Sense Of North.' It was all about a very difficult period in my life.  There's a reference to the lyric "Without a sense of north' in this song.  I don't know how good or bad this song is but I love the melody and imagery of the kids playing ball and the señorita taking a stroll.  It's really saying 'life still goes on despite our personal problems".

Will I ever produce this?  It's doubtful.  It's simply a declaration that I am still here.

"If fate could dance or sing a lullaby, she wouldn't think to make the poets cry."  Not much more to say really!

Don't drown in blue.

Man where've you been?
We just 'aint' heard your voice on the street.
The kids still play ball and the señoritas stroll.
There is much that can still make you whole.

strike a chord, don't you whisper farewell.
There are people who care for what you do.

Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.

Man, where've you been? come on out to play.
There are times you've just got to kick back.
When the world takes your smile, you should steal it back henceforth.
Without a sense of north, you might as well be dead

There are people who care for what you do.

Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.

There is magic in the things that people do.

If fate could dance or sing a lullaby,
she wouldn't think to make the poets cry.

The kids still play ball and the señoritas stroll.
There is much that can still make you whole.

Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.
Don't drown in blue.

pompeyjazz:
This is so well done Paul @Wicked Deeds Love the stripped back acoustic with fab vocals. The lyrics are up to your usual high quality standard. I do hope that you keep writing when you get the time as the world would be a lesser place without you songs - Take care mate  :)

CorkingCrackBand:
I don't have much to add to @pompeyjazz's comment/sentiment. Lovely and tight. Great melancholic lyrics despite their potentially positive thrust - indeed because of it. Good vocals and it's great to see you around again. I hope work doesn't occupy all your time and life is treating you kindly.  :)

All best,

rightly:
ooh
I like this
I gave it a few listens
it had that effect because it struck as unfunished and promising (or the other way around) and I've recently been writing again.

the sentiment does resonate with me
recently I think i came to the dodgy insight that my interest in worldly things has been waning, and there is a voice saying things like
"there's life in it yet, man! You used to have so much fun"
So, yes, listening to this track, this ol' narrative was stirred up again.

you're an excellent writer
very different from me but life would be terrible (or significantly worse) without diversity
lol.
