Hey,

these are the lyrics of an upcoming song of mine "Here I am" which I am going to record in September.
I wanted to write about the fact that life just passes by so quickly and that sometimes it just feels too short to fulfill everything you want to.
Feel free to give feedback what you think.
It is more that welcome ;-)

Here I am

I’ve been holding on for years
Day and night I am trying
To find the keys to open up my doors
I’ve been holding on for years
And instantly I am sighing
When I start to contemplate

Here I am - Here we are
In this moment counting stars
In my mind I’m running up and down this windy boulevard
Here I am - Here we are
In this moment counting stars
In our minds we’re running up and down these hills of our past
Here we are

Last night I wondered why
How fast the time has gone by
I asked myself how could that be
Short time ago we still crawled on our knees

Here I am - Here we are
In this moment counting stars
In my mind I’m running up and down this windy boulevard
Here I am - Here we are
In this moment counting stars
In our minds we’re running up and down these hills of our past
Here we are

Asking myself how could that be
I there a light that I have not seen?

Here I am - Here we are
In this moment counting stars
In my mind I’m running up and down this windy boulevard
Here I am - Here we are
In this moment healing scars
In our minds we’re running up and down these hills of our past

Here I am – in this moment
In my mind I’m running up and down this windy boulevard
Here we are - in this moment
In our minds we’re running up and down these hills of our past
Here I am - Here we are
In this moment counting stars
In my mind I’m running up and down this windy boulevard

It's fine as a light contemplation on the mystery of existence. I think it might benefit from a line or two of either doubt or the offer of some kind of answer for existence. That might add a bit of gravitas. Or framing it with some event that prompts you to consider this big question.

Structurally, it's fine and I get the sense it will have a very pretty melody, especially at the chorus. Right now, though, it's only missing that moment of revelation or illumination.

Find that and your lyric goes from nice to special.
