I seemed to write some nice lyrics earlier this month and then promptly forgot about them! I wrote this last week and came back to it whilst I was tidying up my desktop. This is probably my favourite of these recent ones... there are a couple of lines I'd like to work on but I'm not in the writing mood at this minute so I'll leave them as is for the moment (thinking of replacing "my heart has lost the war" for one - I think I can come up with something better).

LIKE A LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER

VERSE
Her eyes burned hotter
Than the fires of Hell
But the look freezed my heart into ice
I couldn't stop her
I was under a spell
And there was no breaking free from her lies

PRE-CHORUS
She boxed me in a corner
With no way to escape
Her lips were pure torture
As she kissed me again

CHORUS
Mother said you oughta
Never date the Devil's daughter
But I just could not resist temptation's call
I obeyed her orders
Like a lamb led to the slaughter
But despite myself my heart has lost the war

VERSE
We met last summer
It was lust at first sight
There was no holding off her attack
The perfect lover
In the dead of the night
She just didn't know how to hold back

PRE-CHORUS
I knew each time she kissed me
I was fighting for beath
When suddenly it hit me
I was out of my depth

CHORUS
Mother said you oughta
Never date the Devil's daughter
But I just could not resist temptation's call
I obeyed her orders
Like a lamb led to the slaughter
But despite myself my heart has lost the war

INSTRUMENTAL

VERSE
My heart betrayed me
It gave in from the start
Well, I thought I was stronger than this
The way she played me
And then tore me apart
Was a master at work, don't ya think?

PRE-CHORUS
She stripped me of reason
As she stripped me of my clothes
My body took a beatin'
But not half as did my soul

CHORUS
Mother said you oughta
Never date the Devil's daughter
But I just could not resist temptation's call
I obeyed her orders
Like a lamb led to the slaughter
But despite myself my heart has lost the war

I think the narrative would work better in you swapped Verse 1 for Verse 2.  This way, we would know whom you're referencing. As is, you haven't established any of the characters or tone. It sounds like we've been dropped in the middle of a scene from a bodice ripper novel. And that's fine- but who are these people? [Also, be careful of clichés like "hotter than the fires of Hell". Unless, of course, you mean the literal orbs in her head were fireballs. Then I really want to hear how  you managed to get that kiss!]

It sounds like this could be a fun, up-tempo romp.
