Afternoon, I recently got engaged and decided to make a song to share our story of how we met albeit not the greatest of circumstances leading on to the proposal itself. I know the chorus isn't exactly original but ever since we've been together we have a long running roses are red violets are blue thing going and so when I proposed the words in the chorus are the words I read to her before popping the question. Anyway here it is, any thoughts good or bad always greatly appreciated :OP

By this point we’d video called now
so I knew you weren’t a catfish
honestly the relief had got me doing back flips
even prettier than I imagined and you just loved my accent
still we were yet to meet in person
the longer this went on the more frustrated we’d get
falling out over text if you had plans with ya ex
I wanted us to make moves, needing to know what was next
So I bluffed you and said I’ve left my girl
Cause there ain’t enough room for 2 in my world
I hated that I lied to you but I needed you to see
That you could do it too and we could both be free
But before you would agree we had to meet

Congratulations on getting hitched @StevieJ Like the way that you deliver the lyrics. Great storytelling. The dual vocal part works really well as an interlude. Great to listen to some alternative genre stuff on the forum. Excellent work

Really like the interspersed vocal parts over your characteristic voice. I like the lyrics a lot because they feel very natural, but still have a definitive rhyme scheme and rhythm (sounds a bit like a British Nas or Immortal Technique). Great story, by the way! Congratulations and wishing you much happiness.

Okay, tbh I think the opening line rhyming intentional and conventional sounded a little clunky to me. But that's a tiny nit pick cos it's a really honest and detailed description of a relationship coming together and I'm assuming it's all true. You really won me over by the end. Also nice to see some variety in the type of song being posted here.

So much rap is inaccessible to me,but there are gems out there in the style of Eminem and this is one such song that connects.

I don't even like love songs,I'm so old and jaded,but this blew me away.

Hi StevieJ, nice track... I enjoyed that... it felt intimate and warm and heartfelt and genuine... that certainly came across in the lyrics and delivery.  Rap isn't typically my thang but this was positive and accessible, plus I enjoyed listening to what you did with the percussion coming in and out... that was well sculpted.  If you want any constructive comments, all I'd say is that there were a couple of lines where the delivery felt slightly unnatural because you paused on the rhyme mid sentence (like when you say 'nearly.... in love' around the 50 second mark), whereas I think you could have just continued the sentence and the rhyme would still have resonated.  That's a tiny crit though, in a top piece of work... enjoyed the piano motifs too.  Nice one, thanks for sharing and most importantly congrats on your engagement.

Very beautiful keyboards at the beginning and then deep, space-filling bass. It's impressive!
And the chorus with female vocals is unexpected and amazing! Great duet, great lyrics! I really liked it.

I'm not a fan of rap so for me the rap parts of the song don't work but the other parts work very well my friend.
