Robot 22

Robot 22, focus on the planet there so blue.
The streets where we once lived.
Inevitably yours, we opened up a door for this to be.

Robot 22, how will it be when lovers don’t exist?
No angry pacifists.
No greedy grabbing hands, no scourge across the land,
What will you do robot 22?

Who will paint the pictures on reflection
Sharing the emotion of the heart.
Flowers that once laid upon our graves,
Surfer dudes once tangled in the waves.

Robot 22, programmed to be perfect by design.
These thoughts may not align.
A glimpse of the devine is often flawed.

Robot 22,
2,2,2,2.
Robot 22,
2,2,2,2.

Who will paint the pictures on reflection
Sharing the emotion of the heart.
Flowers that once laid upon our graves,
Surfer dudes once tangled in the waves.

Robot 22,
2,2,2,2.
Robot 22,
2,2,2,2.

Wow Paul, your imagination really went off like a rocket from those two little numbers... Really impressed you imagined this sci-fi whole backstory.
I thought it was great - especially the production, just the right amount of restraint - there's plenty going on but you are careful enough not to make it overblown.
Liked the repeating "2, 2, 2"s after the choruses too, they are slightly haunting.
A thought provoking piece!
It's all too beautiful.

@PaulyX, thank you my friend. It was all great fun. I always believe that despite the topic that we are writing about, a song can be linked to our own experience and emotions.

I will jump in with more reviews but am not at my best after a surgical procedure today. Peace and love to all.

Well, what a smashing way to kick of the 22 challenge @Wicked Deeds I thought that we might get a few twist on the theme and I'm excited to see which way other will interpret it.

This is pure class, poignant, clever lyrics and super backing track to go with your unique voice - Excellent stuff  :)

Very unusual, good to get out there for a bit.
A strange and interesting song
You'll have huge albums
Great diversity
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

Hi Paul,

Well you've certainly set the bar high for this '22' challenge, haven't you?
I love the slow and mesmerizing plodding pace in this song. I was a immediately drawn in.
The drums sound very cool. Is there a lot of reverb on them?
Your vocals are wonderfully up close and personal. Lots of imagination went into the lyrics which are quite thought provoking  8)
Arrangement and production are perfect, IMO  :)

@Wicked Deeds

Hi Paul, I've said before that your arrangements are beautifully thought through, and although usually quite sparse they are populated with effortlessly constructed soundscapes that work very effectively. The choice of instrumentation works well over some nice chord structures. Nice melody sung very well too!

What's not to like?

Cheers

Jamie

"Flipping heck, Tucker" as early 80s comprehensive school cockney kids exclaimed.

This one took me by surprise...it seems to blend a whole buffet full of tasty treats from all over the place into a single course of yummy yet nutritional goodness.

You've set the bar at pole-vault level.

"Angry pacifists" that's such a great comment!

I have been known to reflect upon on how some people hate the people whose opinions they hate even more that the people they hate hate the things they hate them hating  :P

"Robot 22" is an interesting song title :)
Beautiful melody and very beautiful vocals. The lyrics is a bit sad.
I really hope that besides robots, there will be people on the planet who can share emotions with others.
Although the last few years it begins to seem that your song can be prophetic.

@Maya Clars,

Thank you for reviewing my work.  This is indeed a sad song.  Let's hope this doesn't prove to be prophetic.
A big thank you for your compliment re both the melody and the vocals.   :)

@crystalsuzy, Thank you. There's a fair amount of reverb on the drums, though judt the right amount I think.  I'm really pleased with the song. When I set my studio up in my new house, I' ll share the latest version.

Many thanks

Paul

What a delightfully surprising piece of music, super arrangement with loads of little subtle touches and nuances. I love that harp like guitar run, sounds like it should be a TV theme.

It’s hard to take a sci-fi theme and keep it ‘human’ and conveying emotion. But you’ve skilfully achieved this. Top piece of memorable work @WickedDeeds.
My latest novel: pls check it out!
