Hello everyone. Newbie here - led this way by my friend Leo @LostBoy with whom I had the pleasure of collaborating with recently... I am a self taught guitarist / composer writing my own material from a little studio in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am not a singer and only write original instrumental music - hence my first (and only so far) collaboration was with Leo - a fantastic vocalist who entrusted a couple of his songs for me to mess around with  8)

Here is one of my own for your interest - this is a tune I wrote for my father in law - a brilliant surgeon, highly regarded professor of ENT and yet such a humble person - now sadly suffering with Parkinson's - those once rock steady hands. Awful for such a master of his craft. The only way I could think of properly paying tribute to him whilst he is still alive...

I hope you enjoy it - all feedback and advice very welcome...

Tony

Hola @Tolo

How good to see you here !!!
From what you say in your post, this music is a tribute to your father-in-law who suffers from this terrible disease. I imagine the suffering of him being also a surgeon ...
I liked it a lot, it is an important subject, solemn in many moments although your taste for crossing the skies appears from time to time
I liked it a lot, very emotional

Stay well

Epic and highly cinematic! Really nice to hear some instrumental stuff on here and I loved the way it's structured. Loving the Rachmaninov style piano and sonorous strings. So sorry about your dad - my mum had Parkinson's and it's a terrible disease.

@Tolo  welcome to the forum! This is a beautiful way to introduce yourself, it’s a lovely swooning melancholic piece, beautifully and delicately produced… a fitting way to mark the sad subject matter…
Looking forward to hearing more of your stuff!
Sound formed in a vacuum may seem a waste of time...

Fantastic composition with full of sound. I really like the bass and how the melody breathes. And also, great piano!
It could be a good music for a serious movie. I listen to it with pleasure.

Hi
Welcome to the forum
I listened to your track a few times
Good production
Loads of changes and surprises
Very imaginative
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

@Tolo - Welcome man, I love this arrangement, it would suit many films, why not send it off for them to mull over.

My Father had parkinsons, it so sad, he was a great pianist…he had a stroke too so he couldn’t speak and his parkisons meant he couldn’t write down what he meant .

I also wish that one day it is possible just to go for a walk around Joburg…

Yes a very nice piece of music…look forward to hearing more from you

Hi Tolo..........you've captured the bitter-sweet of someone nearing the winter cycle of life.
A beautifully done portrait.
Sorry to hear.

@rightly @cowparsleyman @IronKnee - thanks guys, for the listen and positive feedback. Yes - a terribly destructive disease - where the body is beyond control but the mind (and eyes) are still razor sharp... Appreciated.
