Sad news today that Meat Loaf has passed away.
His writing partner, Jim Steiman (a personal songwriting hero of mine) had already passed the pearly gates. Now his other half has joined him.
They were responsible for one of the top ten-selling albums of all time (the title song of which I loved to sing at karaoke). In a world were few "popular" artists actually put in the effort, Meat actually put on a show when he performed. It wasn't just the singing or the music - it was giving the audience a spectacle.
Wish I'd have seen him perform live. What I saw of him on video... if you'll pardon my French... fucking legend.
RIP Meat.
Let's not forget his filmography. One of my favourite files was The 51st State. The guy was talented. Also liked him in Rocky Horror Picture Show... the producers (or someone affiliated with the show) didn't think anyone could sing "Hot Patootie" properly. He showed them!
