For my love Marie.

https://soundcloud.com/pvasey1/throuh-the-years-produced-version

Through the years

what do you dream when the sun goes down;
when you escape the day?
Do you reside in a French Chateau,
where children come to play?

Close your eyes, maybe rest a while.
I’ll still be here while you sleep.
It has been so since the very start.
I’ll dry your tears should you weep.

If we are here by the grace of God,
If all things happen to his will.
I’ll praise his wisdom, having sent you here;
Commanding artistry and skill

Close your eyes, maybe rest a while.
I’ll still be here while you sleep.
It has been so since the very start.
I’ll dry your tears should you weep.

I’d like to share with you my happiness and fears.
Another world awaits us down the years.
Through the years we will grow;
we’ll push and pull, we’ll learn to take it slow.
Through the years may we smile.
Come walk with me, come talk a little while.

Very, very nice Paul. Love the somber, but sweet ambience. Your guitar is tranquil, as is your vocals. Really like the lyric!
Good stuff!!

G'day buddy
nice melodies floating about
and I like those chugging strings

wistful and charming

So this is for your love interest
I hope she gets on board with it, appreciates it.

All the best Paul.

Fabulous love song Paul. The lyrics are great and paint a great picture. The delivery is cool and measured in all the right ways. Absolutely nothing I can criticise about this song. I really enjoyed listening to it. :)

Hi Paul,

Nice work on those lyrics mate. If I’m being honest I wasn’t crazy about the chord changes in the choruses on “sleep” and “weep”…imho they made the song sound a little sinister in those moments…..🤷🏼‍♂️😆 sorry man, that’s just what I felt….like you were saying something lovely, but at the very end of the sentence there’s a dark twist…”I’ll still be here while you sleep!…😈”

Just my thoughts mate…hopefully u know I don’t mean any offence by that.😄

Hello @rightly,

I do believe that Marie does appreciate the music that I have written for her.  This completes my twelfth composition and definitely marks the closure of the album "Let Your Umbrella Dow."  A collection of songs written since we first met. I should get around to publishing the album as a gift to her.

Thanks Buddy

@Chris Price,

thank you for your comments.  I love the song and believe it floats along in a proud and beautiful manner, expressing my thoughts for Marie.  Im so pleased that it hit the mark.

@LostBoy

I had a really good laugh when I read your review.  It's. a little bit of light and shade I guess.  I quite like the direction that it has taken and certainly didn't take offence.  Your review brightened up my sleepy Sunday.  Having said that, you've probably destroyed the magic of what I have written lol.  It places the words "I'll still be here while you sleep" in a totally new light.  I'll always think of something sinister from a Hitchcock movie now should I go back to listen.

Thanks for your comments Leo.

Beautiful love song @Wicked Deeds ! Marie as your muse works very well I think!

Lovely lyrics. I really like the first notes of the verses - that deep vocal is lovely… I think you should do that more!!

Yet another great song from you Paul

@Wicked Deeds - Hi Paul, nice to hear from you again, I’m touched by your deep feelings for Marie, I feel the same for my wife who is German, such a colourful marriage, 25 yrs this year, and Man I feel even more in love now than then, so I can dig your sentiments.

Song wise, I really liked the vibe of the instruments hooky as hell, With the lyrics I’m with @LostBoy , again no offence meant.

Smashing tune, will you be doing more In the kitchen live sessions?

@cowparsleyman,

Hi Rich and thank you for your kind words. Maybe I will play in the kitchen live sessions if I get around to rehearsing.  I seem to have fallen into the habit of writing songs and then forgetting how to play them.  I then move on to the next composition.  I'm no longer sure where I'm heading as a writer or musician.  I'll always be able to write but feel that I need a new incentive to do so.  I'v written half a dozen songs since I was last on the forum but have only produced 2 of them.  They do however exist as acoustic and vocal songs.  Seriously, who knows where I'm heading!

Hi Paul,

Interesting lyrics and music.
I wasn't sure if it was about new beginnings, or the next stage in life. Sort of chapter 3 of a 4 chapter story.

Chilled out tune.

Hi Paul, is that a picture of your house on the Soundcloud page? You’ve done well for yourself if it is. Nice one!  ;)

I really liked the subtle use of strings on this, very gently assisting the guitar and drums core feel. Very gently sung too. Just right for a love song like this, as my favourite element to this is the optimism that’s conveyed and an almost certainty by the narrator that this love will continue.

Touching, without being at all over sentimental.

My latest novel: pls check it out!

‘Gavin & The Bodysnatchers’, a quirky comedy crime thriller. Easily found on Amazon.

Interesting and non-standard transitions between tonalities in the accompaniment.
Also you boldly using downward movement of the 3-4 notes throughout the song.
Well recorded vocals, good sounding instruments. The song is calm and pleasant to listen to.

@ MonnoDB thank you for your review.  It's a another song for Marie who brings peace love and calmness to my life.  What more could a man or woman wish for?

@digger72,  I've written 13 songs about my relationship with Marie so I guess they represent many, many chapters of our lives which are unfolding in the most positive manner. I am so fortunate.

@MichaelA,  yes, that's our  other house.  I am certain that this relationship will blossom for many, many years.

@Maya Clars,  I follow my instincts to go where the music invites me.  It isn't ground-breaking but hopefully it is sincere and performed well.

Thank you

Paul
