Sorry I haven’t been around all that much for the past couple of weeks. Holidays and family stuff come first, but I’m going nowhere and I’ll get back into listening and reviewing songs now I’m back home.

This song is a bit of rock n roll fun. Nothing too deep...wind the guitars up, head down, see ya at the end!

Headless Chicken
©2021 Words and music Chris Price

Six o’clock in the morning, I can’t get no sleep
Nobody gave a warning, thought I couldn’t be beat

I thought it was all rich pickin’
I didn’t know that the clock was tickin’
Runnin’ around like a headless chicken...for you, as you do

Rock my soul all night long, there’s no second best
For the evil and the wicked, there’s surely no rest

I thought it was all rich pickin’
I didn’t know that the clock was tickin’
Runnin’ around like a headless chicken...for you, as you do

2am in the mornin’, the valves are runnin’ hot
My Fender is on fire, givin’ it all I got

I thought it was all rich pickin’
I didn’t know that the clock was tickin’
Runnin’ around like a headless chicken…

It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Neat bit of retro roc. Loving the guitar chords -the 3rds to 4ths made me :-)
Does just you might expect and all the better for that.
Liking the additional vocals and the solo and the guitars towards the end too
lots of energy and swagger
:-)

Thanks for some nice feedback guys. Yeah, it's certainly retro - very Stones - I used Keef's open tuning on this one. I hope he doesn't mind!! I'm a man of a certain age so I'm rather prone to bouts of this kind of hooligan rock n roll bluster!! I need to write something more subtle but I'm not sure if I can remember how. I need a beer!! :)

The Stones are back in town.  A rocking track that sets us up for your cool vocal.  You never disappoint as a musician or writer.  Vintage @ChrisPrice! Long may your "hooligan rock 'n'roll bluster" continue!

Hey this is great @ChrisPrice - ha yes I hear the Stones in this.. clever lyrical hook.. Everything played and sung right as it should be .. Great stuff altogether.. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Love that solo!

Hi Chris,

Great dose of old school rock n roll.
Great bottom end driving things along.
Twinkling guitars and a retro vocal. (late 60s early 70s rock.)
And then it makes you bring out the air guitar.  :D
