Hi,
Hop all doing well, just had some time out, still music'ing and playing with new puppy :-)

Anyway here's a tune I wrote to some interesting lyrics 3 weeks ago. The music came quickly, just trying to get the vocals has taken some time, as I'm clearly not a rock singer.

Anyway hope you all like it and look forward to your comments

SNAFU - contains naughty word..

Three wise men follow a star
Simon Cowell forces out a smile
Let the light in once in a while
It could buy - a brand new sports car

There is no room at the inn
Channel ferries on their day trips
Make it home for your fish and chips
Suntan changes - the colour of your skin

Still waiting for a jab, situation normal, all fucked up
Food banks full to overflow, situation normal, all fucked up
We’re all fucked up

Shepard’s watch their flocks by night
Concrete reinforces the wall
There’s laugher as the fool takes the fall
Always someone - looking for a fight

Believe in the double cross?
Silly handshakes and old school ties
Red top photographs show truth with lies
No one wants  - a puppet as a boss

Kids hungry in their schools, situation normal, all fucked up
Who’s on Top of the Pops, situation normal, all fucked up. We’re all fucked up

County lines make your pain
Don’t know when to stop, or begin
Three wise men have a plan
But there’s no room left at the inn

Still waiting for a jab, situation normal, all fucked up
Food banks full to overflow, situation normal, all fucked up
Kids hungry in their schools, situation normal, all fucked up
Who’s on top of the pops, situation normal, all fucked up
All fucked up
We’re all fucked up

Great stuff, and lovely to hear your playing/singing/writing after all this time (my hiatus, not yours).

I think the chorus is great - very strong. The overall feel and instrumentation really fits the lyric - that wall of sound and that strong drive. Took me a while to get into the vocal phrasing of the verse, but by the end I was there.

Lyrics are great as well, if a sad and depressing reflection on our times.

Production and playing is top notch, too. Of course :-)

Cheers

Hi Neil,

Great production. Guitars sound gritty, but crystal clear.
I think the lyrics just about some up where we're at.
Mrs D often says to me it doesn't sound right when I swear; when I listen to you I reckon she'd say the same. You have a very polite way of delivering the F word. :)

Great job.

@Neil C,

Super clear production with a very enjoyable intro.  Fine guitar sounds and playing too.  at times, the melody is really strong and it therefore really holds my interest.  There are some very engaging lyrical ideas.  However , I’d simplify the stream of subjects From “Simon Cowell “ to “County Lines” for example.  I feel that this would better convey the dissatisfaction theme that the song embraces and subsequently, the listener would make make an easier connection.  Guitars are without doubt, fantastic and by far the highlight for me.

very cool writing
rebellious n articulate
straight talking

hey at least you're not resident in a foreign country, having to deal with the madness of brexit on top of the scamdemic.

generally people seem to be divided
between
the virus is for real, or is it a powerplay?

I'm certain it's both
one being true doesn't cancel the other.

ah what a divisive mess

we're being played.

excellent work on the song!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

Another one that makes me wish I could play guitar. Nearly impossible to achieve uninterrupted time but I'm getting in a little practice. I know what you mean about being a rock singer. I listen to Joan Jett and sigh with envy.

Anyway, like others said, this is another good production from you.
