Perhaps a little change of sound on this one, I tried a different method of working, grab a sound, play a short motif, grab another sound, play another 4 note phrase etc… forced myself to make quick decisions… I very quickly got the basis for the track, then I spent the time going back in and fiddling and detailing, previously I’d always started out with chords and gone from there… I tried to take note of @LostBoy  comments and change the vocal phrasing a bit more, I think I’d always stuck quite rigidly to a structure before…

Anyway the song itself is a bit of fun nonsense about criminals and cryptocurrency 😮😁

Lyrics:
I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty
With your
Cold Hard Cash
I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty

I got no interest in your high yield account
No need to feel the fibre of your fabric
Keep your pony, your monkey
And keep your own score
I won't touch your banknotes or your plastic

My assets are virtually pristine
Hidden deep in the darkest of webs
I'm using my cybernetic laundrette
Cryptically tying up the loose threads

I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty
With your
Cold Hard Cash
I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty

It's the gift that keeps giving
An endlessly expanding resource
Buy your bits, watch them grow
Crypto Queen says, you're in profit, of course

So I won't touch your bag of cash
You can pay me digitally
You won't find my ill earned stash
I'm a millionaire, virtually

I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty
With your
Cold Hard Cash
I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty

No Name
No Blame
On this block chain
No Stress
No Mess
No registered address

I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty
With your
Cold Hard Cash
I don't want your currency
I won't let you get my fingers dirty

@man made material - really dig this, love the production especially the gate on the vox.

Very clever harmonies

Hey, I really liked this!  Very interesting... kind of retro electro feel... a little bit Kraftwerk, a little bit Beck circa "Midnight Vultures", a little bit proto hip-hop, but also truly original.  Especially the melody and the multi-layered unusual harmonies - they were like nothing else I've heard for a long time.  The hook of the deep-voiced 'cold hard cash' works really well too - some great treatments on the vocals.  (Money) Bags of fun.
It's all too beautiful.

Very "new wave". Love the attitude. Has a cool strut to it. Very well put together.
Love the production. The performances are very good, as well!
Love it!

New wave n funky
I really liked that listen
With synths it's easy to sound too cynical
You dodged that bullet here
Well done
I like songs about money  lol
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

A very infectious song. If I'm honest it's not really the kind of thing I'd usually listen to but this is incredibly well done. Immaculate production, use of synths and vocals that certainly fit the mood. Big thumbs up from me :)

Wow it’s quiet round here… no new songs for a week!… has there been a Songwriter Forum group holiday?!😁

Thanks so much @cowparsleyman  @PaulyX  @IronKnee  @rightly  @MonnoDB  @ChrisPrice for listening. We are quite a disparate bunch with different styles and I appreciate sometimes it’s difficult to listen to things that are outside ones comfort zone, so many thanks for giving this oddity a go, the encouragement and props are appreciated! Glad it has been a bit of an ear worm too!🙏

@man made material - Yeah I'm sitting on a virtual beach with @CaliaMoko and @MonnoDB , @pompeyjazz has just gone to get some ice creams (love that Vanilla) and @PaulAds is having a snooze after his glass of prosecco with salmon and cucumber sandwiches (not tinned, with the crusts cut off).

@MichaelA is having a paddle with his trousers rolled up, while @ChrisPrice has gone Eel fishing.

I'm expecting @rightly and @PaulyX back from their "How far they can fly from jumping off the pier" event, I did think that strapping pompeyjazz's acoustic (that onehe was given)  on one arm and @Jamie 's new Squier Classic vibe on the other,  wouldn't take him very far.

Anyway I have to pay the sunbed guy, I could have sworn he's already taken my cash...Oh it's you @5 guys named Lars  ,for the last time no I don't want any herring thanks.

I'll do my back now...

Before this slips off the bottom of the page I’d be interested to know for future reference why people are less inclined to engage with this one? if it had had listens and no comments I’d understand that the general consensus is that it was poo - fair enough! But there’s been a noticeable difference in number of listens, so, no sour grapes, more wanting to learn some lessons… wrong subject matter or song title? Cheers!

Hola @man made material

I thought I had already commented on this song ... Oops, I do it right now !!!
Your song has baffled me at its beginning .... hahaha
Many surprises here !!! Your method of making the song has seemed very laborious to me ... And the result is very interesting, a very particular style, the one you have, with strange instrumentation, different sounds and wonderfully applied effects. I liked it a lot. The story you tell is like its reality ... Everything and nothing

Qué calor!!!
I did not know that to live we had to die so many times

@man made material - I don’t think there’s any intentional avoidance, it happens sometimes. I have listened to quite a few songs here that I find hard to make any comment on, not because they are bad,
It might be that they just don’t stir anything anywhere in my soul and just plonking words down for the sake of it aint my style.

Summer traditionally is a lean time for reviews, holidays, sitting in the garden etc…they come in waves…

Really enjoyed this. Fun lyrics, and an awesome mix. Great detail with the harmonies - they must have taken a lot of work. The vocal that comes in later with the ‘no name, no blame’ was a little hard on the ears with my in-ear phones, but that’s a very minor point in an otherwise very impressive track. Kudos!
