wrote this years ago
a friend picked it out from many of my past songs and said it was good.
The song has some sentimental value for me,
I think this new production does it justice.

One Heart Whole

 there's a warm breeze
and many ways to survive
 take your worries
and hang them out to dry
hear me if I'm not mistaken
 forgive me all I know
many loves must be forsaken
to make just one heart whole
to make just one heart whole

 your wily ways
all these secrets and lies
should have no place
in your heart or mine
 any thorn can be misleading
and discolour the rose
left alone, distraught and needy
leave me any- anything but broke
to make just one heart whole

drop all defence, discard pretence,
relinquish resistance, be still

hear me if I'm not mistaken
 forgive me all I know
many loves must be forsaken
to make just one heart whole
to make just one heart whole

 there's a warm breeze
and many ways to survive

Cool song sounds a bit experimental to me what is good. I don't know the old production. Would be interesting to listen to it too.

Great stuff @rightly I caught this one when it popped up on my Soundcloud feed the other day. I love the "fairground" organ sound that you have, It conjures up something from Sgt Pepper. But just when I think I know where the song is going you pull us another way. One of your clever tricks. Maybe one of your more slightly conventional tracks but I love where you're going with it. Another great listen  :)

I like those little notebendings that drop down at the end. Makes it special.

Hi @rightly Yep, liking that fairground organ and the unexpected chord changes. I agree that this a little more conventional than your usual material but it is none the worse for it. I like the way you have left time for the song to breathe between verses but have avoided a solo. The drum track is also very novel, inventive and effective. This little couplet is lovely: "any thorn can be misleading
and discolour the rose"
Great stuff my friend.

@rightly  this has your distinctly unique sound, yet a very warm version of it, really nice positive vibe, it feels like a comforting arm around my shoulder... cool stuff!👍
Sound formed in a vacuum may seem a waste of time...

@rightly For many this would be avant garde, but as others have said, this is one of your more "straightforward" songs. However, this balance works really well and I think this style really is your sweet spot. The supporting instrumentation and chords build a nice platform to showcase your vocals and lyrics. Your chord choices are original and interesting and the whole effect is something unique and powerful.

Great song!

Enigmatic as ever...this couldn't be anyone but you.

I'm still wondering how to do the song you sent me without making a fool of myself!

You're a hard act to follow  :)

Really interesting woozy sounding track. Given some of the lyrically material it could have been sentimental set but this is much more interesting.

Makes me think of Scott Walker's later work in places, which I really love. But it is a totally unique of course and fascinating to hear.

Thanks for the positive feedback
I've heard the reference to Walker before, Some fine musicians seem to like him
I never got around to checking him out.

Really glad you like the song!!

Hi Mr. R,I wouldn't know where to start to write your stuff let alone arrange and record it. Enigmatic as someone else said, always entertaining and intriguing.

Cheers

@rightly First time I've heard this one. This is fascinating. Your arrangements are amazing. I see I'm not the first to spot the fairground thing. I'm trying to liken it to something - Syd Barrett..sort of. David Byrne..I dunno. I can't get into any deep analysis because I don't fully understand it, but I really enjoyed this one. :)

@rightly , wow you’ve nearly written a pop tune there, now that was a surprise 😀 I really liked that 1/2/3 1/2/3 synth riff that underpins much of the structure of this. As you are experimental in nature I often have to listen more than once to become familiar with your tracks. This one seems very easy to follow right away and I liked it very much, both the vocal line and the rich textures in the synth work. Good stuff indeed 👍

Hola @rightly

Me gusta mucho el arreglo, I like very much the arrangement and general atmosphere. There are parts in the melody with a special sense of rhythm and as always great lyrics. I find your evolution is really deep.
I love this "take your worries
and hang them out to dry"
