I have a new rocker in the making but, in the meantime, I thought I’d post one from a couple of years back when I was going through a phase of writing on my 12 string acoustic. I intend to write some more songs that way soon.

A tune about an enormous, scary bridge. It crosses a wide and dangerous river which happens to be infested with some rather unpleasant wild-life. Prepare to be eaten!!

THE BRIDGE
(C) 2019 Chris Price

https://soundcloud.com/chris-price-824458122/the-bridge

Steel truss is gleaming, rows of silver teeth
The road is climbing up, there’s peril underneath
As the draw bridge rises, standing half a mile on high
An evil monster rages, the trucks are standing by

They say the waters flow at fifty miles an hour
That the critters down below are waiting to devour
Salty crocs, electric eels and blue ringed octopus
gonna make a meal of each and every one of us

A ship is sailing, it’s passengers don’t know
there’s thirty-five foot gators circling down below
Addicted to the taste and flesh of human kind galore
plucked from the river bank, their souls on the river floor

When the draw bridge closes, the cars begin to cross
It’s gotta be five miles wide but no-one counts the loss
In the river deep the water’s black and stained with blood
If you never crossed that bridge, I really think you should.

I'm a real sucker for a 12 string @ChrisPrice This has got a great deal of bouncy energy and bags of melody. Some nice little guitar runs thrown in here and there and some rock steady bass. Nice tight vocal harmonies as well. Thought this was a great listen

@pompeyjazz
Thanks for your kind words John. I really enjoyed doing the 12-string stuff and I plan to do more of it after my next song. As much as I like doing the full-on guitar driven stuff, I think this is more adventurous. Again thanks for the listen. :)

Hi @ChrisPrice, that 12 string does sound sweet and adds a kind of singer songwriter element. The descending run off riff at the end of each chorus is also very cool.

Very entertaining foot tapper. The image you paint of the monster bridge and all the perils beneath is very evocative. Quite menacing indeed. Shame nobody got killed though  :D

Nice big finish, ha, love it  :)

Hola @ChrisPrice
I thought I commented on this song but not... Here I come.
I love the story, it is not something usual to hear a so fantastic description of such mechanical something and you have managed to put me on that bridge as a spectator. I

An appreciation of mine: I hear the guitar on my right speaker, why haven't you put it in stereo or in the middle? would fill more the general spectrum of the wave and thus give more depth perhaps to the sound in general..
Well, you know me and my comments, it's my personal way of listening.
Good song. Stay safe

Solid rocking track that moves along nicely. Nice to hear a 12 string ( I must get mine out again, just can't stand the thought of trying to keep it in tune!!!) Nice job on the doubled/ backing vocals and some great guitar work throughout.

Cheers,

Kevin

@ChrisPrice, super lyrics on show here and musically this transports me Tom an American road movie. All good in my opinion. So interesting how are thought process develops in the course of writing a song. We begin with the seed of an idea and from that, our minds wonder and invite us to explore different avenues. Great instrumentation too.  This is a beauty my friend.

@Wicked Deeds  Thanks very much. Yeah, I went on a bit of a wild ride with the lyrics on this one!

@kevysc  Yes, the 12 string is fun but horrendous to tune up! Thanks for your kind words.

@moraamarolaloba Thanks Mora. To be honest I can't remember how I panned the guitar but I will certainly check that out. Glad you enjoyed the story.

@MichaelA  I will make sure that someone is killed in my next song ;D Thanks for the listen. Glad you enjoyed it.

@MonnoDB Thanks so much for your kind words. The response to this song has fueled up my desire to write some more on my 12-string. I'm only a really strummer but I love the sound of it. It opens up all kinds of possibilities. Thanks again. :)

Hi Chris, love a 12 string guitar....Vocals brilliant again.Definitely want to hear more of this keep that 12 string out. Some really nice chord changes in there. You have a terrifically pro sounding voice.I'm hearing a touch of Geddy Lee this time....

Very good Chris!

Cheers

Interesting melody, beautiful vocals, сool guitar sound!
In my opinion if to listen to this song with headphones there's not enough bass, but this is just my opinion.

@ChrisPrice - Hi Chris this is my first listen to your Work, very good indeed, I really dig the Electric Eels line, I'm rather partial to the more unusual lyric lines.

Nicely assembled and confident in the delivery.

I would agree on some of the other's observations that the bass is a little light.

Can't get the image of an enormous Electric Eel sitting under the Forth Bridge out of my mind.

Thanks very much for the listen and kind words guys. I agree that the bass isn't loud enough on this track. I may go back and remix it at some point and that's something I will definitely fix. :)
