I was in the mood for writing yesterday.
Along came.....

The Sullen Surf Dude

Sleep tight baby 'til the morning comes around.
You can dream a dream of loneliness; in loneliness I've found,

I'm the sullen surf dude, tangled in the sea.
I struggled in the undertow 'til you were there with me.

You said "take my hand,
Let's split from this place.
A life of suffering is written on your face.
Let this be no more,
come swimming with me.
The sullen surf dude isn't welcome on this sea."

Sleep tight baby.
Be wakened by the light.
Leave all the pain you've ever known
behind you with the night.

You're the sullen surf dude,
tangled in the sea.
you struggled in the undertow
now, you are with me.

She said '" take my hand,
let's split from this place.
A life of suffering is written on your face.
Let this be no more,
come swimming with me.
The sullen surf dude isn't welcome on this sea."

There are places on the ocean where a man can drift in danger from the land.
Take me back to safety, let the warm winds there embrace me on the sand.

Je t'aime mon ange, Sirene de la mer
(I love you my angel; Mermaid of the sea)
Je t'aime,  Siren e de la mere
(I love you, Mermaid of the sea)

Paul,
Like it, although. sullen surf dude will take some singing given the alteration.
I think you might want to consider changing the "Let this be no more,
come swimming with me' to 'come swim with me'
Anyway enjoy rest of getting it completed

Thanks @NeilC,

I wrote the song and completed th production in one, day long sitting.  It' now up on my soundcloud page. I will probably tweak the mix with fresh ears one day soon.  It's great when everything comes together in that way.

@NeilC,

I've really thought about your suggestions and may well revisit this for a slight alterations to 'implement' "come swim with  me". Good call my friend.

I am however, really happy with the line "let this be no more."

There's a sneak preview of the original on my soundcloud page should you wish to listen.

Hi Paul, amazing that you knocked this out in a day, especially given the subtlety of the orchestration - I especially like that French Horn. The guitar break is great, then all the sprinklings of acoustic after that are very sweet.

There’s some French geezer sneaked in on the end, don’t know how he got there, but easily fixed  ;)

The imagery in the lyrics is very imaginative as is the whole concept of the sullen surf dude in the sea. Very original!

Really interesting composition Paul in every respect 👍
My latest novel: pls check it out!

‘Gavin & The Bodysnatchers’, a quirky comedy crime thriller. Easily found on Amazon.

Thank you so much.  I feel that I'm returning to form since life has began to settle.  I completed the final song '5 am; Europe 1"  for my new album today.  From writing, playing to finishd production in a single afternoon.  It doesn't always happen but when it comes together so quickly,  it's something to say thank you to the gods for and rejoice with a smile.  :)

Greetings,
The sullen surf dude does sound a little clumsy, it doesn't roll off the tongue easy when sung. But apart from that, it's hard to find fault with what surrounds it. It will do for me, and if there's any justice to be found, it should do for all.
