I haven't posted here for a while but thought I would share this.
I don't write personal lyrics very often. This one however is based on my feelings about two elderly members of my family who are currently suffering poor health but for different reasons, one is my father and the other is an aunt of 97. My father suffered a stroke in December and is now in a very low place, my Aunt is my father's sister and she had a heart attack and a fall last weekend during the night (it was me that found her).
Thanks for reading.
NOTHING’S EASY, NOTHING’S NEW
Nothing’s easy, nothing’s new.
There’s a fire I can’t kindle.
And a river that runs deep.
There’s a lover that I long for.
And another I can’t keep.
There’s an alter that is broken.
Where the lily always grew.
There’s a word that’s never spoken.
Nothing’s easy, nothing’s new.
I want angels but with boots on.
And a soldier that has wings.
I want something you can’t offer.
Like impossible things.
I want anger that is peaceful
And a beautiful review.
I want the essence you can’t give me.
Nothing’s easy, nothings new.
It’s all in balance.
The truth and lies.
The contradictions.
Will emphasize..
For fair and unfair.
And love and hate
Are good and bad things
To contemplate.
Give me dreams that never falter.
Like a metronome of hope.
Give me gambles that are certain.
And a sensual overload.
Give me rhyme without a reason
And a shaded avenue.
In this world of complications.
Nothing’s easy, nothing’s new.
Take this bullet made of spice now.
From a gun that never fires.
Take this river that is swollen.
By the blood of pure desire.
Take this curtain that has fallen
With a bittersweet adieu.
Have you lost your indecision?
Nothing’s easy, nothing’s new.
It’s all in balance.
The truth and lies.
The contradictions.
Will emphasize..
For fair and unfair.
And love and hate
Are good and bad things
To contemplate.
I am at the sacred fountain.
Where the saccharine was sweet.
But the taste of it is bitter.
And the feeling’s incomplete.
All the audience are waiting.
For The Taming Of The Shrew.
We are just like countless others.
Nothing’s easy, nothing’s new.
No one knows where stardust comes from.
No one knows where mortals go.
For the answer’s so elusive.
It’s for the best that we don’t know.
