Hello and a happy new year to you all!!

Been a while since I`ve been active on the forum. Took a short break from music and writing/producing, just trying to re-discover the joy again..

Wrote this song a few weeks ago, always with the intention of doing it as simple as possibly on piano. Might add some more melody on the keys, synths and strings to make it complete and spotify worthy, but for now, here`s an acoustic version of it.

The song is written from the perspective of an outsider witnessing an abusive relationship and with the intention of catching the fall when she finally is able to get out of it.

https://soundcloud.com/musicbyandreas/be-ok-song-about-being-in-an-abusive-relationship

You`re broken down and bruised
Every time he puts his hands on you
You`re so used to being used
We don’t know what you`re going through

You left a million messages on his phone
But he`s always too drunk when he`s coming home

You think it`s the love that you deserve
Maybe you`re too young to understand
I will show you just what you are worth
Maybe it was all part of a plan
(It`s okay, it`s okay
It`s okay, not to be okay) (x2)

Every word coming from his mouth
No one knows how much it hurts
You just wish you could get out
Every bridge you`ve ever burned

You`re too scared to ever leave
With tears running down your sleeve

You think it`s the love that you deserve
Maybe you`re too young to understand
I will show you just what you are worth
Maybe it was all part of a plan
(It`s okay, it`s okay
It`s okay, not to be okay) (x2)

I will pull you out of the fire
When your weak I`ll be your fighter
And it will be ok
And it will be ok

You think it`s the love that you deserve
Maybe you`re too young to understand
I will show you just what you are worth
Maybe it was all part of a plan
(It`s okay, it`s okay
It`s okay, not to be okay) (x2)

Thank you for listening, and have a lovely evening!

Cheers!!

Hey, Andreas

Very brave to do a song stripped right back like this. Piano is quite hypnotic and it's all so sparsely laid out that you can't help but concentrate on the excellent message that those vocals implore you to listen to. I'm a little afraid of heights nowadays...but my voice is VERY afraid of heights! I'd need some helium and a safety net to attempt anything like this.

Well done...it's great to see you're writing again  :)

Hola @Andreas

It is a story so well portrayed, the questions, the doubts, everything that surrounds him ... the piano is precisely the instrument that I think he needed and there it is, supporting each word, each phrase.
An emotional experience

@PaulAds - Thank you so much for the listen! I am terrified of heights, but my voice somehow just wants to jump into these naked stripped down versions of songs haha

@moraamarolaloba - Hola, and thank you so much for the listen :) It was the emotions I was going for with this one, and I might just keep it stripped down as it is

@Andreas - a lovely song Mr A, full of passion and heartfelt witnessing. Your stripped bare production is spot on, I love the distant BV's and the 808, I found myself expecting some strings of pads, but they never came thankfully.

A super work

@cowparsleyman - Thank you so much man! Had some fun playing around with harmonies and BV`s on this one, and the 808s was my masterpiece haha.. Heavily inspired by Finneas and his song "I Lost a Friend", where the sub-bass blast through the speakers in the bridge.

Hahah no pad and strings on this one.. I thought about it, but decided to keep it stripped for now, and I think I will keep it stripped, and maybe add just some more melody in the piano instead
