Hi everyone! This is a song I made the other day - I tried out Elliott Smith-esque double tracked vocals for the first time, would love to hear some feedback :)

Lyrics:

summer like a band-aid
losing it a slow game
as the days drip drip from a faucet
you could get drunk on the stink of it

i’m laughing in a graveyard
driving in a grey car
rotting in some old fast food place
the only one open on holidays

when i forget to speak
i can feel the places where you used to be
and how I wanted to tell you everything
what do I know about anything
what do I know about anything

you were growing a sunflower
in the window of your parents house
one day it was taller than i’ll ever be
that’s when i knew you would grow out of me

we were sleeping in the foxgloves
pigeons or a white dove
i don’t believe in god, i was saying
but when i get scared, i start praying

i didn’t ask you then
left the question melting to ash in the wind
and how i wanted to tell you everything
what do i know about anything
what do i know about anything

What a beautiful song, and what a beautiful voice (voices!) amazing production, the treatment of your double track vocal withe occasional echo is sublime... this sounds so professional and you’re clearly super talented... enough gushing, just brilliant!👌👌👌
Sound formed in a vacuum may seem a waste of time...

this song is a jewel, a crystal drop that shines somewhere where the sun chooses where to put its light.
I really liked it, pure poetry and also a beautiful voice and an elegant and sweet arrangement.

This line is wonderful among others..
"as the days drip drip from a fauce"

Nice to meet you.

What. A. Voice! The lyrics are fantastic, and the harmonies really completes the song! Really like the indie/folk style you are going for, and the production is really good! Well done! :)

@sarahlawrence17,

I'm always impressed when I hear someone who can sing so well. It's  one of thr greatest assets that a songwtiter can have. Coupled with the emotional delivery of the melody and introspective commentary your song reels the lustener in  to conclude, this is beautiful!

Lovely Sarah and sounds really good mix to me...harmonies are great.

I just had a sneak listen to the last song I remember you posting ('Wildflowers') and you've come on a lot on the production... the subtle piano touches and strings sounds fabulous.

Really nice listen and great to hear your singing again!
Take it easy.

You can check my stuff out here. Mini-album getting bigger slowly. Free download if you're poorer than me.

@sarahlawrence17 this is absolutely amazing...... Captivating, memorising..... Just honestly beautiful love it..... Double tracked vocals worked a treat...... İ love the birds at the start and end... And the soft strings that popped in and out..... You should be majorly proud of that!!! Seriously talented lady.
