Another two minutes of cheddar for all the fromage-lovers out there (are then any left?)
Still tweaking the mix so any comments and/or feedback would be a welcomed sight :D

How I Won Your Heart

How I won your heart, to me
Is an endless mystery
Honey, can you tell me please
How I won your heart

How I won your heart, back then
How love grew between "just friends"
Tell me, I won't ask again
How I won your heart

In my dreams I see you drift away - then you're gone
And it seems there's nothing I can say - it's so wrong

Maybe just a little clue?
Why you love me like you do?
I'd sleep soundly if I knew
How I won your heart

In my dreams I see you drift away - then you're gone
And it seems there's nothing I can say - it's so wrong

Maybe just a little clue?
Why you love me like you do?
I'd sleep soundly if I knew
How I won your heart

Honey, if I only knew..
How I won your heart

@Paulski,

I especially like the guitar parts in this song over "maybe just a little clue."

It's hard to know how to advise you on how to amend your writing as I believe you have great awareness of what's is required.  You've certainly nailed the melody and the lyrics are concise.  This really adds to accomplished wring.  I do think this would build nicely with a string arrangement.  Great song a song usual. Something I've come to expect.

Hi @Paulski, well this is a style you have very much made your own and not many on here would have the credentials to crit. It may be cheese, but it’s top cheese. A bit more like expensive Stilton than cheap Cheddar. 👌

Trying to offer a suggestion, seeing as you asked, I was wondering if the line ‘it’s so wrong’ might sound nice taken up as though it were a third harmony?

But once again a very charming number from you. All the best.

Now that's @Paulski As Michael says, you have a style that is your own, so unique and original. I love the second chord on the piano. The little acoustic guitar interludes just add to the overall ambience. Does it need anything else ? Well, I think it's a perfect little morsel as it is but you know how much I love your backing vocals so they would never go amiss. Another top quality offering from the Paulski stable

great stuff very sweet n  simple song
apparently done with ease

Well you've lifted my spirits again
Good morning
n I've no nits about it being short

the guitar was a bit of a distraction...
you on the guitar is often a bit intimidating. lol.

It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

Hola @Paulski

love and its muse is a tree that usually bears splendid fruits, like your song in this case.
I like the atmosphere that the piano gives it, it takes me to another more romantic time in which another slower measure to taste it.
Lovely!

Hi Paul, this is as others have said, a prime slice of Canadian Bocconcini set to a lovely piano accompaniment as we have come to expect from you. I don't think it is your best song but it's still great writing and performance. Sort of Christmassy in a strange way.

It really lifts when the guitar comes in to another level...

Loving the little mid 8 refrain and melody...

And it ends triumphantly 😍

Clever and elegant 🥰

Hi Paul
starting with the lyrics, I mostly enjoy relatively straightforward lyrics, don’t like pondering a meaning, so this really works for me, not cheesy in my books. The melody is strong enough to carry the listener along although the lyrics did that on there own. As other have said your style is unique and instantly recognisable in a good way of course.
Nice work.

Wow! This is positively theatrical....I love it.

Seriously good vocals.

I listened and nothing to add! Very melodic and satisfying. Maybe one of the final "choruses" could lift rather than start down from the break? But don't listen to me!

Hi Paulski. Great compact song. If you are still open to suggestions re the mix i would suggest maybe lifting the vocals slightly. I think they should be a little more dominant in the mix. Not much - just a nudge. Cheers Micky.

Masterful melody and lyric crafting, reminds me of Billy Joel a bit. This would make a great show tune, impressive stuff.

Very nice @Paulski . As Mr. Simonjol says it sounds like a show tune & because its simple & rueful it works beautifully. Like it when the bass piano notes on the chorus aren`t the obvious ones.

Beautiful song. I can't fault this in any way. It has an old fashioned vibe to it which is part of it's charm. Brilliant! :)
