Hi all.

I'm looking to record some singing. Can I clip my microphone using a normal mic stand clip or do I need to use a slottable shock mounting? (Hope that makes sense)

Many thanks

I'm no expert, but I think you would normally use a shock mount. If you don't have one and you DO have a regular clip mount, go ahead and give it a try. I think the idea of a shock mount is to protect against things like vibrations through the floor or something. If you're careful, you should be able to get a decent recording without it. Some people just use a phone for recording. So go ahead and try what you have.

@House463 - Hi, It rather depends on the mic, large diaphragm condensor mics are very delicate and sensitive to the slightest and need a shock mount, dynamic mics are not so sensitive, so don't normally require a special mount, and therefor can be handheld, just be aware of your volume, if you sing louder, move the mic a bit away from you...watch the pros singing live.

Hope this helps.
