My first song done purely in GarageBand with an iPad

https://soundcloud.com/adam-harkus/when-youre-in-love

Tried to go for a lavish, romantic waltz style. Lyrically, put simply, this is all about the inner strength we get from being in love, despite how tough life can get.

Hope you like it and welcome your feedback.

When You're in Love

Written, produced, and performed by Adam Harkus

When you're tired of being late
And the truth is hard to take
When your days have gone to waste
And the world seems on your case

When you're in love
You're playing no more games
You're moving through the rain
It's soothing all your pain
You'll never lose again

Now the future is all we need
And we'll get there eventually
Though it's harder than before
We don't worry anymore

Hola @AdamHarkus
Very well sung, simple, clean.
I love the smooth sound of the guitar and the basic instrumentation is more than enough.
The repetition of "when you are in love" giving rise to the answer makes it catchy.
The instrumental parts stand out very well
If you could share the lyrics it would be great.

This really sounds fine. Love the tone you got on that guitar.

Excellent vocals and overall production.

Hi mate,
U have done a great job with that melody mate, it gets right in there.😄👍🏻 I also loved how the bass dances about. Only thing I wanted was after the musical break for the backing vocals On “when you’re in love” to be the same as previous choruses. It’s a strong hook, but in my humble opinion you water it down a bit by choosing just to go with the lead vocal alone at the end.

Hope that helps.
Great job dude. 🎶👊🏻🎶

Lovely song, great vocals and great guitar tones - I wasn't 100% sure about the bass - I could see how it gave a bit more texture but I felt a bit of tension with the acoustic rhythm so maybe for me less movement and notes could give a smoother feel?
Great work on an iPad though, very nice sound overall.

Hi  @AdamHarkus

A really nice song its got great guitar lines and fabulous vocals and you did a very nice job on production  My only improvement suggestion would be mix the BVs back a little in the chorus as  IMO they seem a little too loud. But it's still a great song.

Thanks a lot.

The lead guitar tone is a Squier Tele Custom II direct into Garageband (TC Helicon GO), using a preset from the GB guitar amp. Bit of phaser for some movement.

Thanks for listening.

Thanks a lot and really appreciate your comments.

The reason I missed out on the final backing Vox?  Basically one of the final lines was a first take I just couldn't for the life of me recapture. I had a really laid-back, soft, honest quality to it which I wanted to keep, so instead of the usual big finish, I went for that instead, as the backing vox clashed with it.

it's funny which direction a song takes when you come to record it sometimes.

Thanks again.

Completely with you on the bass/drums/acoustic. I would've liked them to lock in better and did originally have a much simpler bass track, but it was just too samey.

The end result is a little jarring, as you say, but this time I chose that over something more laid back. Still not sure if that was the right call.

HI and thanks for listening.

Yeah I agree I'll dial them back a touch, maybe the main vox too in parts. Less reverb perhaps too.

Appreciate the feedback!

Hi @AdamHarkus
great song, great melody sounded full and rich. I completely agree with @adamfarr as it hit me right away. The bass and rhythm guitar are fighting for space which is more noticeable in the quieter passages. I would simplify the bass in those sections which would then add to the contrast
as the song builds and perhaps more bass notes would work.
All round nice job.

@AdamHarkus
Hi great guitar sound and melody. Maj 7ths are amongst me fave chords ;). I found the bass and kick a bit busy and it distracted me from the great melody and nice feel.
Good song

Cheers
