Freshly written. I'd sing it but the tune sounds a little plagiarised at the moment (nothing definitive but it has that "familiar" sound). Started with the first line and it quickly became obvious it was somebody famous (no one in particular - I wasn't thinking of anyone as i wrote this) who'd boo-booed somewhere along the line and was getting loads of stick from it from all the keyboard warriors (I'll have to write something with that as a title some time!). She (it could be a he - or an it/them in these strange times - again it's ambiguous but I was feeling a slight female vibe whilst writing it) is responding to them.

It's a sort of observation of how we set people up as celebrities and laud them whilst then attacking and tearing them down on a whim.

IVORY TOWER

Who the hell are you to judge me?
Do you live such perfect lives
That you have never slipped your halo?
Nothing's ever black and white

Somewhere in between the pages
There's a twist within the plot
And you with all your omnipotence
Were blind to what was obvious

Don't sit there and claim
That you don't play your games
And the rules change whenever you whim
The sound of the rain
Upon your window pane
Is the sound of your own heart within

You set me up in my ivory tower
You pulled it back down when it reached up too high
You do not care how you misuse your power
This isn't real in the dark of your mind

Once I was you in the mirror
Dreaming of more than I was
And somehow those fickle illusions
Turned into fame has a cost

But you won't back down
With your insecure frowns
It's not fair that the spotlight's not yours
You cannot conceive
That a star cannot grieve
That we're somehow not human no more

You set me up in my ivory tower
You pulled it back down when it reached up too high
You do not care how you misuse your power
This isn't real in the dark of your mind

Your fairy tales fades in my ivory tower
It's not what you think or I thought it would be
You let go my hand in my darkest of hours
You don't see beyond what you all want to see

And so you judge me

INSTRUMENTAL

I sit here alone in my ivory tower
Holding back tears as I sink to the floor
As winter decays the beautiful flower
I wither and fade into nothing once more

But my sins are yours...

@Sterix
I like it. You might want to look at the structure a bit. It seems to have two fours line verses and then a six line pre chorus before the 4 line chorus, thereafter the structure varies a bit, it may or may not matter.

Thanks @Neil C

The struture is:

Verse
Verse
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Verse
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Chorus
INSTRUMENTAL

I need to re-write a couple of lines I'm not happy with - may get to it one day.
