Hi,

Here's another tune harking back to simpler times.
I've tried to keep it short and simple, albeit I through in an odd chord or too.

I hope it resonates with some of you and look forward to your feedback

Life was simple way back when
Walking the dog across the Fens

Sun in the sky, sun on my back
I’m off the lead and given some slack.

Seldom seen but often heard
Flying high without a care in the world
I’m going

Skylarking, I’ve got no guarantees
Skylarking, just hanging in the breeze

Sand in my toes and wind in my hair
Bird on the wing, singing somewhere

I’m the dunes, running on the beach
I’m mucking around yet just out of reach

Seldom seen but often heard
Flying high without a care in the world
I’m going

Skylarking, I’ve got no guarantees
Skylarking, just hanging in the breeze

Well, I enjoyed that. And now I'm feeling like I want to try some different chords. For a change. I have no nits. A nice, carefree theme, makes me want to go run around on the beach. On a nice day, of course.

@Neil C  I know its only a demo but I really enjoyed this very charming song. Interesting chord changes, nice hook in the chorus, backing vocals & great guitar wig out. Thanks for posting Neil and look forward to hear if you develop it.
( PS. slightly off topic ,XTC`s Skylarking is a top top LP if you haven`t heard it).

Great progression - lovely jaunty swing to this one.

Great mingling of dog and human (and bird?!) sentiments in the lyrics.

I wasn't sure about the word "guarantees", as no guarantees could be a negative thing. I think the concept should really be "got no constraints", so rhyming is a challenge. "I've got no liabilities"? "no necessities"? "no [something] duties" or change it round "I'm limitation free" "I'm obligation free"... etc.

Very timely to have a song about happiness and freedom these days!

Catchy number Neil, loved the guitars, I just wondered if it could be a little faster?

Nice breezy pop @Neil C 😍

Some great changes in the bridge / pre chorus and the chorus is catchy and works really well.

Brilliant guitar solo in the mid 8. Sounds like something from the white album.

You are so prolific - I honestly don’t know how you have the time!

@Neil C - been looking forward to this one Neil.

I do like your songwriting, some super progressions.

Like your production, and your approach to BV's and placements of the tambourine.

Nothing to add.

Just reminded me of XTC album title, i think they had one called that.

Great stuff.

Lovely relaxed delivery and some cool chord changes. After the bridge, I thought you were going for a key change .... might be worth trying? However, this is truly excellent as it is

Hi @Neil C

A very nice song that certainly did resonate with me, great lyrics and lovely vocals and your guitar work and production were your usual exemplary high standard.1st Class.
