Hi all,

I have written a song, and started putting down the music for it, but unsure how to work out the key to add the music for the verses and chorus etc.

The into starts off as Gb, D, B, E. So with just those, I don't know how to work out the root note base the rest of the song progression on.

My musical theory is cack as you can tell, and I struggle to digest all the online articles on how to work out key signatures etc!

Thanks

Boydie

@TheKillerQueen88

An initial crude guide would be what chord would sound best to end the song on (that provides a satisfying "resolution")

Are all of those chords major chords? - the mix of major and minor chords are also a good way to identify a key

This post will help you with "chord scales", which will in turn help you identify the key of songs
