I hesitate to call this poetry but I've added a few more words to a little idea inspired by listening to a piano track by a friend on Soundcloud from a while ago now.
This is the track that inspired the words, Philip Dupuis writes some very nice music IMHO.
https://soundcloud.com/classicalglass-1/reflections-and-refractionsI'd completely forgotten about these words until just now when I rediscovered them so I've add a bit more. I've no idea if it works but I wanted to capture a feeling if i could.
It's a bit dark I guess ;-)
Reflections and RefractionsThe light is caught by sheets of glass
reflected hope as vehicles pass
But dark is night and swallows whole
my tattered, torn, unworthy soul
Scarred by life, but scared of death
I count the weight of every breath
and through dark windows sometimes find
a glimpse of hope I'd left behind
For in the dark a tiny spark
may yet renew my broken heart
fling open doors once sealed so tight
against the pain of healing light
The shuttered windows keep me sane
as sunlight beats against the pane
and as night falls I dare to peek
outside these walls into the street
So shadow wrapped I watch and wait
with tumbling thoughts about my fate
How did I come to this impasse
As light is caught by sheets of glass
