I've been around SoundCloud and other songwriting places for a few years now and thought it was time to 'spread my wings' into a new online musical space.
Just turned 60 in this lockdown year and my musical influences are varied. Everything from Baroque and ancient music to Motorhead (I still remember the Bomber tour - my ears certainly do). I'm not a fan of Rap and Ska to some extent.
I've been largely caught up in an ongoing instrumental project about Lindisfarne (a place my wife and I both love) and dabbling in SounCloud Prog Rock collaborations, interspersed with more folky singer/songwriter tracks. I also have a long-term Prog Rock Space thing going on. The first track was 16.5 minutes. I kid you not. LOL
I'm a self taught rock guitarist / DADGAD enthusiast, / bouzouki and low whistle player and I've been writing songs since 1979. No that's not right, the songs have found me... as is the way (usually when you least expect it) ;-)
I've developed some skill now in orchestration using VST instruments. I guess I'm not a typical singer/songwriter but I do both and I sing Tenor in a choir too. Singing chorally really improves your vocal chops IMHO. Just getting your breathing right is a real plus. The choir I am in sing mostly contemporary stuff and we've even kept busy though lockdown.
My influences nowadays are a bit Proggy, a bit Folky, a bit Classical, still Guitar-based but I've been exposed to lots of different stuff over the years.
Some people on here might know me by my SoundCloud moniker "MrBouzouki" and a few might know me simply as Pete. Born and bred in Sheffield and still living there. With the 'golden frame' we have, why would you ever leave ?
If you want to hear some of my stuff ... the rabbit hole is this way >>>>
