Hi everyone,

Another one from me. "When will he give us a break?" I hear you all ask :-)

This is pretty much a straight forward love song about a girl the writer is completely obsessed with and realises their is frailty in her magic. I hope you like it and please feel able to let me know either way. Posting songs without feedback is like dropping a stone down a well and never hearing the splash.

Madeline
You mean more to me than anything
A sweeter song I will never sing
I will give you everything
Oh Oh Madeline

Unraveling
A day that's stolen, spiraling
You can't know what the future brings
You ride a wave that's vanishing
Oh Oh Madeline

I can hear you you laughing
I can you see you watching
Over this world
On angels wings flying
On a cobalt sea floating
Over this world

Travelling
On a road that's left you wondering
Is this really happening
A fool in the dark stumbling
Oh Oh Madeline

Balancing
A tightrope walking mannequin
You can't look down without falling
Just one slip, and there's nothing
Oh Oh Madeline

Madeline
You mean more to me than anything
Madeline, Oh oh Madeline
Oh Oh Madeline

Wow! Before I say anything else:  I think this is the best I heard from you, or at least my personal fav!
Started out as a very nice but not overly exciting 1+1. Then you start adding stuff, removing stuff, introduce new stuff, re-introduce old stuff and so on.
Great arrangement and variety in instrumentation perhaps lacking a little in dynamics but that is easily forgiven when there is so much going on.
Great vocals of course, love the guitar solo, bla, bla, I could go on and on...
Well done indeed!!!
Oh, mix is fine as well  :)

This really is a fabulous piece of work I absolutely loved it. 1st class production and  arrangement, very professional and accomplished how you build the track up. I also really liked the vocals and lyrics a really high class song.

I’ve not heard a song from you that I’ve disliked.
This is one is lovely
Makes me want to risk falling in love again.
As long as her name is Madeline.
I can’t find fault here.
It’s a moving, uplifting song.

You’re an impeccable knight of the song table.

Thanks for sharing.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

This is a lovely track Alan @montydog Love the one + one intro verse. It's got a very late 60's vibe IMO. There are some lovely guitar fills and fabulous chord changes in the chorus. An excellent piece of music

At first I thought this was going to be an acoustic piece, but I like the way you have built it up in layers. It has a sixties vibe ( in a good way :) ) and the subtle complexity of the chord changes/ melody reminds of early Bowie ( everything comes back to Bowie in the end :) )

Very nice indeed,

Kevin

Got a Cat Stevens vibe from it at the start. You’re right - it’s a very sweet song. Lyrics are very strong and I think the choice of ‘Madeleine’ is perfect and I love the way you’ve rhymed it.

Gorgeous playing and singing... lovely touches like the strings and organ... top class @montydog!! Just love it!

@montydog,

Alan, my friend, your writing goes from strength to strength and it engages the listener more immediately than it has ever done so before.  The musical production is lovely here. You must be very proud of your writing and recordings.

Well done!

@montydog - First I'm not hearing the need for a vocal booth on this... 8)

The second song of the session with Cellos's well I never, loving them, Always love B3's  seem to make it complete.

Great production Alan, as always.

One small thing would be to tidy up the fade out.

Hi Alan, you've added so much to your palette in the last couple of years with your attention to arrangements, instrumentation and production. Your lyrics, melody and singing have always been good. The build on this song is special.

Nice work.....

Loved the song more and more as it progressed...I wasn't 100% sure it was going to be my cup of tea at first...but you really won me over pretty quickly. The only tiny nit for me was that the (slide?) guitar part at the end seemed a little pedestrian...but that's nowt! And anyway...he was probably sitting down  ::)

You seem to have an endless and effortless supply of rhymes on hand.

When I saw the title, I couldn't get that old song title "Paddlin' Madeline Home" out of my mind. Glad you avoided that couplet!

I must have a listen to some of your older stuff...because - and I mean this in the nicest possible way - your stuff really seems to have taken wings over the last year or two...

Vocals, playing and production top notch again. Bravo.

Hi Alan - what a well-written song this is - lovely lyrics with all those unexpected rhymes Madelline/unravelling,traveling etc.
Your smooth vocals deliver it flawlessly as usual too  ;D If I'm allowed a minor nit, I thought the snare was a bit harsh early in the song - maybe change to a sidestick in the first couple of stanzas would soften it up?
Nothing else to pick at - good work!  ;D
