@PaulAds, really cool song Paul. It has a Style Council vibe to it. I'm so pleased thay you got a keeper from the challenge. I don't know why but I've struggled with the wtiting and equally, I've struggled with the production. Yours my friend, is a winner!

Yep, great work on the development @PaulAds The strings make it sound very dramatic. A fabulous tune

Hello

So I was up and ready to start writing 9.30. I don't have a lot of time and wanted to have finished 11ish but it took me to 12.50! but it was so much fun.

This has been an awesome challenge and never have I written and recorded a song in one sitting like this. Rough around the edges but oh well!

It's an alright track but the achievement is so much more than the end product. Thank you for the challenge. (oh and I pushed the boundaries of the brief with doubled vocals and a lead guitar part...sorry...)

My reward is being able to listen to all your amazing submission over a cup of coffee :)

Cheers all

Winding My Way Home
I was feeling pretty fine
Winding my way home
Had a few too many wines
And I thought that I should go
Back home to my darling wife
Who’d been waiting all alone
For her hubby but her hubby is me
And her hubby has no control

When I get home
I’m gonna be
spending my night creeping

Before I get home
I better be
Soaking up this feeling

I was feeling pretty cool
Walking through the park
At this rate my feet and I
zig zagged behind the dark
Oh, probably not wise
To sit down on that bench
I thought the time would help my head
But my seat became my bed

When I get home
I’m gonna be
spending my night creeping

Before I get home
I better be
Soaking up this feeling

When I get home
I’m gonna be
spending my night creeping

But when I got home
Finally
I found my wife a sleeping.

@Darren1664,

This is a really cool song. It's great that you enjoyed the challenge.  What are you referring to with your chorus of creeping'?  Do you mean that you'll be walking on egg shells around the house?

Thanks Paul :) I appreciate the listen

Creeping is a word my wife uses for when I am in the bad books and trying to creep my way out of it by giving her compliments and making her cups of tea etc :P not sure if that's a common use of the word though or just from where she is from.

for example...."I've made you a cup of tea..." ... "...stop creeping.."

Hey...This is excellent, Darren

Brilliant to hear from you. It was a great idea for a challenge and big respect and congratulations to you for taking it on and making such a great job of it.

@PaulAds Thanks Paul :) that means a lot. I didn't think I could do it but (other than tracks where Pompz has done the production) this has turned out to be my most complete song to date! It has a start, middle and end :O

@Wicked Deeds haha no worries, I knew what you meant :) and I'm pretty bad for typos myself.

Anyway, I have gone back to listen to the other submissions here. If I wasn't so chuffed at just finishing mine I'd probably take it down because my word, I'm amongst the big hitters here!

All of your tracks are amazing and in every way - lyrically, vocally and musically and I'm honoured to be posting songs along side you all. Really glad pompz made a playlist as I can listen again whilst I'm working.

I hope to record like this more often as following the recording process start to finish like this has been a really great tool and I would say to any one on the forums to give it a go, especially the less experienced. I can see now that I don't have to agonise over lyrics or structure, sometimes just getting a song under your belt is better than trying to make it as best as it can be. If the song is a good one, you can always come back at a later time. If you don't have the time, at least you have a track recorded.

OK, that's enough from me. Thanks for listening and for sharing :)

Hi @Darren1664 I really enjoyed this one. Great to see you back on the forum. I love the vocal treatment and the slightly dirty guitar. Another twist on "home" I will add it to the playlist  :)

Finally got around to listening to some of these.

First up  @pompeyjazz
Great song John - would never have thought that was done fast - good vox and guitar sound. Deep lyrically  :D

Next there's @cowparsleyman - Nice one Rich - the doubled vocals and guitar solo are a nice touch though stretching "the rules" a bit :D
Very catchy melody now worming around in my brain.

The @MichaelA - what a poignant vibe - love the vox and lyrics. Washes over me like a warm mug o' tea. Not that I ever poured hot tea on myself. Amazing this was done in a day again :D

Just getting started but big time impressed so far :D

I took a run at this "one day simple challenge thingy" yesterday and came up with this song - presented with all the blemishes of a newborn baby  ;D. Let's hope it's as cute! I usually practice my vocals a lot so apologies for the many flubs.

Time spent breaks down as follows:
Lyrics/melody - 2 hours
Tracking - 1 hour
Mixing - 1 hour

When Daddy Comes Home

With her old man workin' out on the rigs
Mom did her best raisin' up us kids
But there must have been times all alone in that bed
She could barely cope
But she persevered through the thick and the thin
And when we cried and said we're missing him
She'd say "It's OK - but you'll just have to wait
'til your Daddy comes home"

When Daddy comes home, tucks us in at night
When Daddy comes home things 'll be alright
The shifting ground where we're walking around will turn to stone
He'll tell us stories of the deep blue sea
His gentle voice 'll wash over me
And then we'll sleep like we never sleep
When Daddy comes home

Though Mom and Dad are no longer here
In my dreams they still re-appear
And I overcome nearly any fear
When Daddy comes home

When Daddy comes home, tucks me in a night
When Daddy comes home things 'll be alright
The shifting ground where we're walking around will turn to stone
He'll tell his story of the whale and the shark
His gentle voice 'll warm up my heart
And when I sleep - I'm not afraid of the dark
When Daddy comes home

He'll tell that story 'bout the whale and the shark
His gentle voice 'll warm up my heart
And when I sleep  - I'm not afraid of the dark..
When Daddy comes home
