@MichaelA, @Paulski

Are we going to embrace the 'home' theme'

Paul

Yes, that seems to have some support. ‘Home’ it is I’d say - yeah I get the idea, we’ll all be coming up with our own take on the same topic.
My latest novel: pls check it out!

‘Gavin & The Bodysnatchers’, a quirky comedy crime thriller. Easily found on Amazon.

Well, I started about an hour and a half ago and I think I'm finished. I'm not going to mess about any more so it's a true reflection of a song created in one session.

Where do we post our songs ?????

Cheers  :)

So - I sat down this afternoon, not really knowing what was going to happen with the theme of "Home" and this popped out

I've decided to leave it absolutely raw as it's one guitar, one vocal, first take - No more messing about. I think it was about 80 minutes from start to finish....

That Home

Oh – If you were well
Then you could tell me
Everything you feel

But when I look into your eyes
I just see hollow shells
Full of confusion

I can tell
The fear wells up inside your eyes
But do I have to really decide to
I don't want to leave you on your own
To leave you in that home

Well time is short
And enjoy every day
The fear of separation
Breeds anxiety
With 30 other souls
To pass away your time
And maybe thousands more
To move across that line

But I can tell
The fear wells up inside you
But do I have to decide to
Leave you on your own
Think I've tried
Everything that's possible
Don't want to leave you in that home
Don't want to leave you in that home

Pompz, you certainly work fast!

It’s great to hear a stripped back track like this.

I think you’ve nailed it tbh! Great guitar tone, vocals and lyrics - I love it when you sing ‘tried’ - there so much emotion there! A great opening track to this challenge, I’m excited for more to come

I plan to try and put something together next Saturday 👍 see how we go

Here's mine, pretty raw, all in all 2 hrs.

Very rough and ready, but a great challenge idea, thanks @pompeyjazz and @Wicked Deeds

Great stuff you both - I have finished writing but have run out of time to record today.
Even got the word ‘cephalopod’ into the lyrics (that was part of the challenge right?).
Mañana, banana as we say over here.

@pompeyjazz - love this, really suits you, Whenever you strip back your productions it reminds me of Elvis Costello playing at live aid.

All you need is love...

John this is seriously brilliant....love it...

Well...that was tough  :P

It was meant to be about The Chagos Islands and Diego Garcia...but I think I lost the plot!

Got it done, anyway...good luck to anyone brave enough to give it a go  :)

Home (And Don’t Spare The Hearses)

You can use it
Til it’s broken
When it’s broken
You might give it back
You can’t see it
When you’re shown it
You can steal it
But never own it

An Englishman’s home
Was any another man’s castle
When the shooting was over
Or the trap had been sprung
You turn a free country into a vassal
Slitting throats
With a slip of your tongue

Stolen away
In front of their eyes
So B52’s can
Soar though tropical skies

No God-given right
No divine intervention
A God-given wrong
For the whole world to see
England expects
But neglected to mention
The slaughter and plunder
Of all that was free

And don’t get too set
Where you currently dwell
If their own are not enough
They’ll take yours as well...

Awesome stuff from Pomps and Rich!

I'm pleased to have got over the line...it was terrifying...but a great challenge!
