@Cawproductions @Boydie - I can concur with Paul, it's perfectly fine to use old versions of Waves plugs, I got stung by some rather dodgy marketing from Waves...informing me that I'd lose my plugins if I didn't upgrade, it cost £175 for a year of not much. Waves plugs are generally very good, if not a little cpu hungry for some (not all). As far as I can see the upgrades are just small things like eye candy and maybe some reliability issues on certain DAWs.
The Waves SSL plugs are superb, I've both the the E and the G, however if I use a channel strip (which isn't that often) I'll use the Brainworx Neve emulation Console_N, it's really useful, the Waves NLS is also very good, a lot depends on the song, the Waves TG12345 is also another cracker for '60s songs.
