Hello,

I rarely get time to produce these days so I have fallen back upon my acoustic guitar to write and play songs in their most simplest format.

This is called 'The Golden Age' and was written in May for Marie.  I was tempted to ask her to add some spoken French to compliment this track but in the end opted for some harmonies.  Neither myself or Marie have much time to devote to music so her input isn't really complete. Anyway, it's a song from the heart.  May peace and love continue!

The Golden Age

The Golden Age is upon us now;
the sun is in the sky.
May your dreams begin where your sadness ends.
It's time for us to fly.

Be strong in my presence,
safe in my arms.
Walk tall, let you love grow.
Rejoice in it's charm.

The Golden Age  is the place to be.
It's home for you and me.
The summer's long when you're by my side.
We've been waiting patiently.

Know we are happy;
we're blessed on the breeze.
See the view from the forest
as our hearts climb through the trees.

The Golden Age will surround us both
That's my sacred oath to you.

I really like this a lot @Wicked Deeds . It is powerful in it's honesty and simplicity. Both vocals sound wonderful both alone and together and your guitar sounds just right as well.

Nice addition of the second guitar there at the end to take it out.

It's nice to hear a true feel good song.

Aaaaah, really nice acoustic and the vocals... wow!
I just sat indulging myself so much I almost forgot to review but here are my comments.
I missing a little dynamics, the song rolls on from A to Z without much changing volume/intensity/instrumentation/play wise.
Mix wise the vocals are a little too up front (or the guitars could be brought forward a bit)
Minor things of course, well done!

Super harmonies, I really like the way they come in so early. Lovely tempo and guitars.
Where you come in with a second voice (do-do-di-bop, and the repeat of 'the Golden Age') I think I'd like to hear Marie or both of you together (perhaps that's what you were referring to in your notes).
"Rejoice in its charm" is a good summary of this song - it exudes a calm happiness.

Thank you for reviewing this song guys!

I spent a little time this morning producing to fill it out a little.  I still haven't been able to get Marie to complete her backing vocal to give this a lift towardsthe end but there are one or two surprise in this new version. Still got Tom tighten up the bass and maybe enhance the sax with a few more notes/flourishes here and there.

@Jamie, @Jambrains, @adamfarr, @Unclenny Thank you all so much!

Hi I really enjoyed this beautifully sung and melodic song. I listened to both versions and I think I prefer the latter more produced version which I think adds more depth and nuance to an already well written piece and reminded me a little of Prefab Sprout.Regardless, this is a very professional and lovely song.

Wow you sound fantastic together @Wicked Deeds - how lovely is that!? The sound of the acoustic is gorgeous in particular and everything is played beautifully.. Vocals are the star for me though.. A really lovely song!

Great to hear this developed Paul after reading the lyrics a while back. I agree with the comment about your voices sounding great together, but individually the vocals have a lovely tone to them too.

Really nice acoustic playing as well, this is a really heartwarming song. Delicate and the sort of thing you hear in film or tv soundtracks when the poignancy of the human spirit needs to be brought across. You've done that so well here. Sync deal is waiting, if you were to even desire such a thing for your lovely creation.

I've just listened to the "medium balanced" version. Sheer class Paul. Just excellent. Firstly, there is a great solid backing in the form of well played acoustic guitar picking. This gives the song a wonderful foundation - yes, the voices are centre stage, but without that foundation, the song wouldn't be nearly as convincing. Then there are the lyrics - a song of optimism and love, which is so hard to do in any way that's not been heard a zillion times before, but you manage it! Beautiful vocals, harmonies and interplay.

@shadowfax, @Grubstar, @Neil C, @MonnoDB, @MichaelA, @Bill Saunders,

I think this one is complete now unless i can persuade Marie to add more vocals next week when I'm on holiday.  I've added a little  acoustic rhythm with a handful of single acoustic chords and a piano motif.  It now feels right to me. It's amazing how the addition of one or two parts can steer a song home.  This is the mastered version in WAV format.

Hi Paul,

I missed the earlier carnation, but this sounds great. Really well put together,and very accomplished.
The playing is really is top notch. Lovely tone.

And the vocals just as quality as always.
Standards in the forum really do just go from strength to strength.

@Wicked Deeds

Its a so nice song! yes, from the heart
The voice is very clear and warm and her voice is really beautiful! When the piano and other instruments appear the effect is very good, they open the panorama.
It is a wonderful age this one!!!
