So I was in a 4 piece band called "The Editors" from 1979 until 1982 and got the chance to work with 3 of the other guys just recently. The drummer was missing so we took the only set of lyrics that he ever wrote and composed a new number based on them to make it a true 4 way collab - it's pretty reflective of the stuff that we were doing live at the time I think.....

I've got a new flat, I've got a smart car
But I ain't had no luck with you so far
I guess there will be some other guy
Who will turn you on with the blink of an eye

So far – Ain't you
So far – I guess it's true
So far – I ain't got time
So far – You're just not mine

I just can't stand it no more this way
Is there anything that's going to make you stay
Tell me what want and I'll give you the rest
I'll give you anything cos baby you're the best

So far – Ain't you
So far – I guess it's true
So far – I ain't got time
So far – You're just not mine

Break

Rpt chorus x 2

Love this! Straight to the point, no-nonsense rock. Them toms in the chorus are lovely as are the claps (and the guitar solo)
Maybe a little more "dirt" in the guitars would work? But just a little then.
back for another spin, well done guys!

Hi @pompeyjazz
I am still rocking... It's the first song I listen to this morning and it made me dancing... Too much for me under that summer degrees hahahaha

The sound is perfect, pure rock band style!!!
I did not know that to live we had to die so many times

Hi John, very nice rocking' song. Had a touch of the 60's about it, Billy J Kramer or Gerry and the Pacemakers maybe :P. A very authentic feel to it!

Cheers

Great song John!  Agree with what's been said, hint of 60s but definitely not stuck in the past and the toms are a real change for the chorus.

Was a bit disappointed it wasn't the other Editors though  ;D ;D

Good work!

Love the teenage angst theme here - very relatable. Sounds like a fun time to play and hear this live. Great guitar tones and those drums and claps really give it a different flavour. Rock and roll will never die, will it.

Yay bring back The Editors, why didn't they make it first time round? Raw fun and energy, and a bit of an r&b / rock n' roll mash up too. Would have sounded great in a pub back in the day. Remember them pub things? Popular once.

Floor filling shot of nostalgia and joy! Great!

Hi PJ,

Cool tune indeed.
Got that early 80s lite rock, not quite hard rock/metal vibe.

Could imagine that sort of track being an influence on modern day Indie bands.

Get the band back together!

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who have listened to this track and commented on it. It was great to work with the old band again after a very long time. The bass player did go on to achieve some musical success as a producer and drums programmer. We literally got this together within a day after a chat one evening and have knocked out a few since, very much with the idea of "less is more" Thanks all once again  :)

Great song!

Made me think of Dr Feelgood...classic good old fashioned pub rock and roll...the kind of thing that seems sadly to be in very short supply nowadays.

Long Live The Editors...more please!

Hi PJ
A really enjoyable piece of pubrock you must have had a great time performing these kind of songs back in the day.Loved the guitars and drums, great chorus and a terrific lead break with claps.

Hey pomps - great little rocker here.
Reminds me of Edgar Winter's "Summertime Blues" and that's a good thing  ;D ;D
Yeah bring the Editors back man!
