Hello!

I don't think I've posted here in ten years. I used to post alot when i was 16/17. Tonight I thought I'd have a look at some of my old lyrics (you write some amount of crap when you're 16...)

Anyway, I'd thought I'd post what I've been up to since. Here's one I recorded properly a while back.

Another Fallen Sparrow

I kissed you last on the open road
I held you closer than I ever did before
I knew your name but not your soul
And with that grace
I let you go

And the parting glass
Was filled pitch black
Into her aching arms

Well I'll get real thin
And I'll drive real far
Just another fallen sparrow
In another beat up car

I led you by the hand and not by the hip
You led me aside and you questioned it
And I drank too much to ever fall for you
Now there's one month left and I'm losing you

And she's sitting there in tears
In the final aching hours
And i don't know what to do

Well I'll get real thin
And I'll drive real far
Just another fallen sparrow
In another beat up car

This song has a classic feel to it. I love the lyrics and the story line and I love the way the cadence of the song works with that story as well as with the video.

It's like the whole thing is steadily moving toward......the end of the road.

I'm still thinking about all of the ways the fallen sparrow fits in.

Great tune.

A compelling lyric, and a somewhat haunting melody......or, maybe it's a haunting lyric, and a compelling melody. It's rather dark, but the video images are bright, and of a much more nostalgic era.
Interesting presentation and performances.
Good stuff.....

Hola @gibsona07
At these moments, your song has given me a very pleasant and relaxing sensation, with its calm cadence enveloping the poetry that has a goodbye.

I did not know that to live we had to die so many times

@gibsona07 - Writing as I listen for the first time (didn't watch the vid)...I like the delayed introduction of the Vocal, nice an easy man, really like this, not sure it needs the kick, sent me off sailing away into the distance...please please have a B3 solo...Love the slide gtr.

All in all a really decent vibe and song.

Great job

There's some palpable pain in here. Great vocal phrasing and very interesting original lyrics: "I knew your name but not your soul" among others. Works very well. Glad to have you back.
