@shadowfax recently posted about building guitar and got some interesting responses that I'll take in to the thought process here.

My son wants to build a Bass, he has 2 (well one's mine really!) but you know what 18 year olds are like  ;D.

He'd like to build a Jazzcaster  They are fairly rare and appear to be a Jazzmaster body with the straight Telecaster electronics rather than the angled line of the Jazzmaster.   Anyway, we can't find the main body parts.

It looks like this and all suggestions welcome (other than a large block of wood and a router  ;D).

Cheers

Pete

Thanks @Mikey, he’s seen that one but since I posted the specs have changed. ;D

He wants two single coils not one single coils and a PJ although to be fair, he doesn’t know what a PJ sounds like but he does know he wants single coil!

The pickups are single coil, the straight one is a Jazz Bass (J) type, and the offset is a Precision Bass (P) style, hence the combination of the two styles is known as a PJ configuration, but both pickups are single coil, there is no pickup selector, each pickup has a volume control and you blend the pickups to the tone you want.

Cheers, Mikey

@PeteS - yeah a PJ bass is very flexible, i use one and I’m not really limited is finding the sound I need.

I can recommend the teo notes torpedo wall of sound speaker simulator, very good it is.
