Every group/organization I've been part of has been using Zoom for online gatherings, but I don't think Zoom will work for online jamming. A couple of us sort of tried. Zoom seems to want only one person speaking (making sounds) at a time.

Anyone have personal experience and can recommend something for two or more people to jam together? I've searched online and it appears something called JamKazam is popular, but there is a whole list of other products as well. I'd be interested in hearing what you think if you've tried any of them. I really miss getting together with others for a little jamming now and then.

Hi Vicki,

We tried every setting we could find and nothing improved it much.  I thought that if my mic and guitar went into an audio interface and out via zoom, that would work but it didn't improve things.

My musical partner, Neil, plays an Alesis Strike electronic drumkit.  We took the output to both his speakers and a Behringer mixer.  We took the output of the mixer and put that out via zoom.  The sound was really good, success!  Until we turned the speakers off and realised that the Behringer had nothing to do with it.  The mic an a cheap external webcam was picking the sounds up and putting it out to zoom.

So I could hear him well but he couldn't hear my guitar very well so we couldn't jam but we were able to go through song parts together.

So sorry, no real help!

@PeteS

The latency over zoom would make this impossible

You should try JamKazam (which I haven’t tried yet) or Jamulus, which worked pretty well in a trial
