I’m working on a couple of ideas at the moment and  usually I want the best quality recording but for this i want some lofi sounds, not necessarily bit crushers but nice cassette/old reel to reel vibes put over nice 808 type beats....

Any recommendations?

+1 for izotope vinyl...I got it free and although i only used it once for that "oh no...the tape machine has ground to a halt" effect...it's great for adding noise/clicks etc too

Useful, i tracked down AudioThing Speaker and some off the wall thing called sketch cassette....

I have waves vinyl and the izotope vinyl, but i was after something a bit more radical.

I thought i could cobble together something with soundtoys 5 but that would soak up time...I’ll let you know how it goes.

Anyone got Waves J37 tape or KRamer 1/4" tape?

I have got Waves J37 tape but I haven't used it to mangle sounds in this way - I will take a look

I have had most success with these types of things by using an EQ or "Telephone" type effect and then overlaying a vinyle crackle or tape hiss sample - this then gives you precise control over the final sound

The WAVES "MondoMod" is a good option for mangling sounds
