I got this idea while being on my morning run in the woods near my home.
While running I was reminded how many times we take things for granted. Perhaps a common theme during this quarantine.
Certainly we take the earth for granted a lot of the time and we forget how magical our earth can be.
So I decided to write a song about our earth. I hope I can set these lyrics to music very soon. When that happens I'll share it with you. In the meantime you'll have the lyrics below. I'm very curious of what you all think :).

Demeter

Born form earth.
Born from silence.

I step unto the ground barefoot.
In my hands I hold the fruit you bore.
A great fire is lighting up the woods.
We hope it will be enough to honor you.

Mother
do you cry?
Are your tears
the rain on our skin?
Do you wonder
when we'll see
all the wonders you perform?

Born form earth.
Born from silence.

We have lived so many years in harmony.
But we have forgotten how much you give us.
We used your bones however we saw fit
and never cared how much we hunted you.

Mother
do you cry?
Are your tears
the rain on our skin?
Do you wonder
when we'll see
all the wonders you perform?

Born form earth.
Born from silence.
Born form earth.
Born from silence.

Now that all is barren
we finally realize
that we can't live without you.
So we lay our lives back in your hands
and hope you will caress us again.

Mother
do you cry?
Are your tears
the rain on our skin?
Do you wonder
when we'll see
all the wonders you perform?

Mother
do you cry?
Are your tears
the rain on our skin?
Do you wonder
when we'll see
all the wonders you perform?

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful lyric.  So deep and meaningful while remaining extremely simple.

I don't know when I last saw someone say so much with so few words.  I sang this on first read.  Wonderfully complete cadence.

I think this is the first of your lyrics I've seen.  I'm VERY impressed.

Hey hardrwistmusic,

thank you for your comment. I'm so glad you like it :).

when it comes down to writing lyrics I love to go to the essence of what you want to tell. I personally love songs that give you as the listener the freedom to think about the meaning of the song without being too obvious.

I always try to reach that goal with my own lyrics so I'm really happy with you're feedback :).

I'm already working on the backtrack for this song. It will be a lot of violins, drums (as far as I can work with them) and possibly some woodwinds.
Hopefully I can let you all hear the finished song as soon as possible :).

Yes, wonderful lyrics. Love the feeling behind them and how effortlessly they read on the page.

Can't wait to hear how it sings.

Thank you Sterix/Martin,

I'm still working on turning the lyrics into a song :).
The backtrack is almost done. I think I'm going to stick with violins and drums :).
