So I told myself I wouldn't write about it... guess I've disobeyed myself! Written just now. I've taken a slightly moralistic tone with it (just happened - I swear I didn't mean to!) and it's a part a reflection on some of the things I've seen and heard during the lockdown.

Everything's changing
The world's slowing down at least for a while
They've locked us in cages
Look through your window
The world's standing still, we're standing in file
And life is in limbo
Is taking a breath such an effort
That our lungs cannot handle the flow?
The line between death and the reckless
Is blurred by the fear of dying alone
Children run riot
Daddy tries to Zoom but can't concentrate
He wants peace and quiet
Boss isn't happy
He can't hear a word they're tryin' to say
Someone's changing nappies
He's losing control from the effort
Of keeping the screams locked in his mind
He just doesn't know how to measure
Life being lived when it's deaf, dumb and blind
INSTRUMENTAL
Look in the mirror
The "you" that you see is the "you" you hide
The eyes of a killer
The nuclear winter
Stretching your nerves to the end of the line
They're pointing their fingers
You don't give a damn for the effort
Their rules don't apply to someone like you
You don't understand that together
Is the only way we can make it through
The world's gone to hell in a handcart
Nothing will ever be the same
And time's gonna tell our descendants
How we adapted to the game
How everything changed...
